You'll have to pay an extra price to enter this part of Ephesus, but it's definitely worth the price. You'll see beautiful antique houses in this overly-protected area. Each house used to belong to rich Ephesus citizens and was decorated with mosaics.

The best preserved and most interesting parts of Ephesus are in the Terrace Houses, yet so many walk by and don't realize how much richer the visit could be. The engineering, plumbing and central heating was amazing to see. Hakan Bozdag, our guide, did a...More

Many mosaic scenes and murals. Nice and interesting place, speaking about the ancient highlife. A must see, but in a good physical condition. There are many stairs.

I have visited Ephesus 3 times, but didn't see the Terrace Houses. Probably because it was before they were open. Do you know if you can do the Terrace Houses without going through Ephesus again??

The Terrace Houses are, literally, in the middle of the site, so you will have to purchase entry to Ephesus to visit them.

Is public transportation easily available to/from there? Can you buy tickets on site? Do you need a guide or can you do this on your own (or get a recorded tour)? Thanks, all!

We took the No frills tour of Ephesus, that we booked on line and everything was included. They even give you a nice book on Ephesus and candy. It's not a huge tour but a van so not more than 12. They don't drag you to rug... More
