I came in when I saw Imam Biyaldi dish in the bain Marie dish in the window. Not because of this place reputation or history. It is easily understandable because it is not easy to miss. A few yards from the Basilica cistern entrance. The dishes are ready made and you just point at the most appealing dish that takes... More

It was my last day in Istambul. When I asked my local tour guide, Zeki where the nice local food was. He showed us this place, The Pudding Shop. I tought it was only serve pudding, but when I came in they served some local dishes. Everything looked delicious and tempting. I forgot the names of the foods, it was... More

This restaurant/cafe has a fun history to it. It's reputation goes back to the 1970's as a place for backpackers to meet up and join other travellers to share a ride or buy no longer needed vehicles to continue their journey. Apparently it got it's nickname "The Pudding Club" due to the memorable local pudding that they served, which I... More

The Pudding Shop is located very near the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia (within walking distance). It serves a variety of local food at reasonable prices. The service is great and as tourist, you get to have variety within just one restaurant without having to go to too many places.

The Pudding Shop never fails to offer great food and welcoming waiters and staff. Every time we are in Istanbul we dine here at least twice during our stay. It has a great location near Haiga Sophia.

Went after hype in guide book. Fund staff very welcoming and efficient. Food was a bit of a let down. Dolma tasted like banana and chop was over done and bitter. Pudding was OK.

We spent most of our day wandering the streets of this old part of Istanbul. One of my favorite things I like to do while on vacation is going to old classic restaurants and this place is one of the most famous ones around this city. I took a seat next to the window so I could people watch while... More

Good food, laid out canteen style so you can see what you're ordering. Something for everyone, clean toilets, kids loved it too. Friendly staff and all the tour guides know this place.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
