Small Family-run Hamami

Clear and safe traditional hamami. A funny experience, good price, worth a try. Nothing like any spa in thailand, very traditional.

Excellent value. Seemed authentic. I was the only client. Their pace was nicely relaxed. This is my first visit to a Hamam. I'm unable to rate it relative to others.

Tarihi Şifa Hamamı is a small historic hammam in center of old city of Istanbul since 1777. Very close to Blue mosque and central square, close to Hagia Sophia. I stayed in Coliseum Hotel which is only hundreds meters from hammam, so it was very convenient to wake up in the morning and go there after the breakfast for a... More

It's a fantastic value, low pressure environment. I had been traveling for weeks already with more to go, and it was a wonderful respite. The hours of operation make it blissfully easy to work into your schedule, and the cost can fit into tight travel budgets. This is enjoyable (and I recommend the full package with a massage), but everyone... More

it has the good price rather than Ayasofya and other famous turkish hammam. but it is very unclean. the towels smell badly and not clean at all. they gave you a shall which is unwashed from previous person. the person who washes you, use the same washing spong for other people. it has a very high risk of transferring skin... I would have given 4 stars, my wife feels like 1 star is too much. We went there on recommendation of our hotel, on a normal week evening. They said they were fully booked. Since our stay in IST comprised only 1 night, we expressed our disappointment. But the owner/manager countered, "Listen, we'll do an effort for you. Normal closing... More

I came here 3 times in 4 days. I paid 100 TL for half and hour on the hamami, a scrub and soap wash by a funny guy, followed by a wonderful 25 minute massage by an experienced masseuse. Apple tea was served at the end. Great value. Worth every penny. A 3 minute walk from Hotel Amira. Would say... More

Had a brilliant experience here. This is no fancy, over priced, Hilton Hotel mock up - this is the real deal - saw many local regulars using this Hamami. To start I lay on the wood fired marble to completely chill with the dome above me, taking in the atmosphere. The foam wash/scrub blew my mind! The woman was great.... More

This hamam is located very near the Blue Mosque. After a day of touring, I can think of no better way of capping off the day than with a bath and massage at this relaxed, friendly, and very professional establishment. I've been here twice over two years and have tried other hamams. This is my favorite. Though it's not much... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
