It was nice visit to Hamam, very cosy place and good before taking sun baths. Higly recommending it to all whom need rest for a body.

The prices at this hamami were comparable (actually 5 lira more expensive) to the prices at the Aga Hamami which I enjoyed far more. It was an authentic experience, lots of local women chatting and bathing, however the service was below my expectation, I paid extra for a massage which lasted for about 30 seconds. I would suggest going with... More

If you're looking for a typical Turkish neighborhood hamami and want to step out from your comfort zone for a while, this is the right place. Besiktas hamami isn't a fancy place made for tourists but it definitely is functional and authentic. The prices are affordable. The staff doesn't speak very good English and might seem to be a little... More

Original Turkish Bath which caters for locals. If you want a true experience, this is the place for you. It is not fancy, though it does the job on the tin! A little difficult to find. We arrived with an hour to closing time, hence there was a sense that the treatment was rushed. The prices are affordable. The treatment... More

I was expected a little more for the price since this is a more local hammam. The massage was very short, like 5 minutes, even though I asked and paid for 15 minutes. She scrubbed me and did not do a great job with shampooing my hair. It was clean and cheap but would try another one next time. I... More

Besiktas hammamı is a typical neighborhood hammam (Turkish bath) which has a section for men (open 08:00-22:00) and for women (open 08:00-19:00). In there you will find the typical center room with the marble surface used to lie down while being “kesed” and the washbasins. In addition to that the man section has a sauna. The center rooms is roofed... More

Staying in Besiktas

Neighbourhood Profile
In Besiktas, skyscrapers compete with palaces for space in an upscale vista replete with hilly green parkland filling in the margins. Step into this rather wealthy neighbourhood and discover a rich mix of opportunities to shop, dine, and be entertained. For folks in search of urban buzz, not to mention a constant reminder of just how important Istanbul’s waterways are to its rich history, there's the frenetic Besiktas ferry terminal or the city’s most vibrant fish market to explore. For a timeout of metropolitan proportions, head to the bucolic Yildiz Park or the chic Bosphorus-side fishing village of Ortakoy. Attractions such as the grandiose Dolmabahce Palace and a bevy of other stately residences await admiration. To be sure, this large and not overly touristy swath of Istanbul yields plenty of pleasure for all.
