I don't know the reason, but there are not many tourists around here. The seaside of Besiktas is the beautiful spot to take pictures and enjoy delicius local food. There are some museums worth visiting, too. There is no direct metro from Sultanahumet to Besiktas, so the best way to visit here is to take a ferry. The ferry bound... More

Its mainly known to be a rich mans city. You can walk straight to the coastal area wich has many exclusive restaurants and cafes with amazing sights of the bosphorus. Loved... More

Our group of 2 returned to Istanbul despite ongoing security alerts because we had good Turkish friends. They took us to a small side street near Besiktas fish market filled with trendy breakfast cafes (get off a cab at Naval Museum, cross the main road, walk up the street directly across, about 100m on, follow the hip young locals going... It's one of main business, shoping, entertainment, eating, cultural and residential area of Istanbul. Most of the students and middle class bussines persons' favorite place. Also, you can find whole star range hotels and it's place that Vodafone arena sit in,means heart of the Besiktas football team. ''Carsi against everything''. I definitely suggest,Kazan Pub, Karadeniz Doner, 7-8Hasanpasa Bakery(especially orange cookies)and Mambocino coffee house.

Besiktas is a neighbourhood which is not always frequented by tourists unless they are going to Dolmabahce Palace. There are fish restaurants, cafes and even a market in the area. It also has a popular football club in the vicinity.

According to a story, a cleric from Saint Menas Church where Besiktas now is returned from a pilgrimage to Jerusalem with a cradle-shaped stone used in the baptism of Jesus and placed it in the church. Located near the sea, it is a very bustling area! Modern part of Istanbul, where you can catch a ferry to Asian side of... More

A highly exploited district of İstanbul, located near the sea, a bölüme transfer point for the residents, where you can feel the rythm of the City in person. This is öne of the older sites of the City, with a small but crowdy bazaar inside, but where you can still have a small break while wandering around the City.

Staying in Besiktas

Neighbourhood Profile
In Besiktas, skyscrapers compete with palaces for space in an upscale vista replete with hilly green parkland filling in the margins. Step into this rather wealthy neighbourhood and discover a rich mix of opportunities to shop, dine, and be entertained. For folks in search of urban buzz, not to mention a constant reminder of just how important Istanbul’s waterways are to its rich history, there's the frenetic Besiktas ferry terminal or the city’s most vibrant fish market to explore. For a timeout of metropolitan proportions, head to the bucolic Yildiz Park or the chic Bosphorus-side fishing village of Ortakoy. Attractions such as the grandiose Dolmabahce Palace and a bevy of other stately residences await admiration. To be sure, this large and not overly touristy swath of Istanbul yields plenty of pleasure for all.
