If you have a limited amount of time and want to see the major key sights there's no better way than booking a tour guide such as Ali and Daily Istanbul Tours. Overall excellent value and the guide Ali is very personable. Recommended.

By far the best value for money, a relaxing two hours with the best views. Buy a day ticket for £3, near the fish kitchens at the old city end end of the Karakoy bridge.

I think it was about 50 Euro a head so for us Canadians that worked out to about $150 for the whole tour. That included all the entrance fees and lunch so a good deal!
