Great section of the city
Jul 2021 • Friends
No trip is complete without checking out the historic buildings of Sultanahmet District, and tacking on Galata Tower just to the north. You’d be silly to skip these.

Breathtaking
Mar 2021
Istanbul is one of the most beautiful and truly historical places I have visited. Stunning architecture, historical sites, good food and wonderful people abound in the city. I definitely hope to return soon.

Beautiful city
Oct 2020
I was not prepared for the beauty of Istanbul. We stayed near Galata Tower, such a gorgeous romantic area of town. I'd highly recommend this area.

Hire a guide - don't do a group tour for a great part of the city
Apr 2020
I had a free day and knew what I wanted to see. There are group tours but they spend ridiculous amounts of time in each place. I hired a guide and emailed him my list. We started with a ferry trip, then the spice markets and spent the day walking with visits to the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, the Basilica Cistern and the Grand Markets. Finished the day off up near Taksim. It's a must visit part of town but a guide will make it a richer experience and help you to skip any lines.

Istanbul in time of COVID
Jan 2021
Istanbul is a great city, worth visiting every season and even during the Covid period, when the hotel prices are so low and no crowds in the streets.. Some advices. There are no lines anymore to Haja Sofia or Blue Mosque. Blue mosque is still under renovation and currently you will not see its inner beauty. Haja Sofia is no longer the museum, as it is an acting mosque the mosaics are covered by the cloth (depiction of faces is prohibitied by Coran), the second floor is closed - but it is still worth visiting to feel the space, which looks very beautifull with the lamps. During the weekends the museums and mosques are open for visitors, but the stores are mainly closed. Süleymaniye mosques in open on saturday, but the

CamiiThe hours of operation in some sightseeing places are one hour shorter. The Basilica (water storage) is closed currently because of covid.

Everything is history.
Nov 2020
In Istanbul everything is history.
In every corner of the city you can breathe the great empire that once became.
There is very good care of all the iconic facilities, from the Mosques to the Palaces, parks and cobblestones,
Everything is very well preserved.

A good place visit the Tower
Oct 2020
After a little stroll, one arrives at this quarter via Taksim. I can recommend the tower with its wonderful view. You take the elevator up and if you like you can walk down and see the various exhibitions.

Fantastic city! So much to see...so much history! I love every area of Istanbul that I visited - from Hagia Sophia to Galata Tower to the Asian Continent and to the Princes Islands. I loved the food, thought the people were warm & helpful and loved the sights!
