Although it is one of the biggest in the country, the National Museum is not well maintained, but gives you an all-round idea of the country's cultural heritage.

We started our trio to Colombo with the museum, and its the perfect t first place to visit. It has loads of exhibits, and helps put Sri Lanka history into context. There is plenty to look at and something for all ages. Good for: people looking for an intro Bad for: people with a short attention span, as there is... More

This monument is very famous among the tourists and provides a very good taste of local culture. One Time Visit.

I expected something more from this museum. Maybe it is just me, but the museum is very poorly maintained and the expositions are old. It is a good place to know something about Sri Lankan history but for me, it was a waste of my 2 hours.

We believe it has range of things kept inside but found most of the areas are blocked for tourists to see and what left doesn't give a whole good impression on the history. The management seems avoiding the general care and maintenance, as there were no sign boards and if you are not with a guide, it would be very... More

It is good place to visit. Museum describes about history of Sri Lanka. It looks beautiful from outside but bit of kinda antique from inside. It doesn't have air-condition.

The museum although impressive on the outside, is a bit dated inside with the lack or air-conditioning. The exhibits were interesting. There was another section of the museum at the back, that wasn't as interesting and was even more dated. Some parts are going under refurbishment so it maybe better in the future.

With the history in Sri Lanka, this should be better, very few items to see . There are so many more things in the country, expected more

Although a number of the rooms were closed, the entry price remained the same. Some interesting exhibits and information, which will hopefully be presented in a more practical manner once the refurbishment is finished.

For me this was mostly like any other museum. I guess I'm not that much of a history nerd to appreciate it. I saw lots of other people enjoying it though. And there was a part of the museum that was kind of strange. It's a nice way to spend your day.
