This was a long and bumpy ride from the capital. Lovely green rolling hills. Finally there were a bunch of other SUVs parked. It took a bit of focusing to see the 4 horses in the FAR distance, but they were there! Loved the other animals and birds along the way.

Mongolia is like a huge park with free herds of animals, horses, cows, sheep roaming around. Some of them wild some not. Hustai has a lot of horses, we stayed with a nomadic family and rode their horses, learned abt their life. For sure unforgetable experience for horse lovers like us.

I have been as a tour guide for international tourists more than ten times every year. Khustai national park is extremity exciting place to enjoy unique wild horse – Takhi and other wild rare mammals.

We were on a private tour and had a private guide from the park (obligatorily) join us. It was a stormy day so there weren't many other tourists at the park that morning. Our guide spotted horses soon into our journey so we got out, walked a bit, looked through some binoculars towards a mountain ridge - and tried to... More

Fantastic to be driving through the National Park in search of Wild Horses and then wandering on foot to reach them. We were part of a tour group on the Trans Mongolian Explorer tour so our accomodation was pre booked. It wasn't quite what we expected. We thought we would be in a single ger on its own. We didn't... Vastness and emptiness, dotted with herds of horses, sheep's and cows. In the winter, the snow covered land extends as far as the eyes can see. Toyota Cruisers are popular to traversed such difficult terrain with tracks left by previous jeeps or one makes new ones to search for the wild ones, like the red deer and the endangered takhi... We were lucky enough to get several sightings of the Przewalski's Horses grazing close by on hillsides. It was a magical experience watching these beautiful, endangered creatures We stayed in an Extra Ger in the park which was a little basic (as you might expect) but well worth it just to wake to see the mist over the Steppes and...
