A great spot to view the ever-growing city. Steps are steep but unless it's a very cold day not too bad. Should be on everyone's list of things to do in UB.

This old Soviet Mongolian friendship monument stands on top of a tall hill over looking Ulaanbaataar. It is quite a hike up the stairs but the murals and the view is worth it

Located near the hills to the south of the city, the hilltop memorial attracts visitors all day long. The main approach on foot is from the north and is a leisurely half hour climb for the young. The way up the concrete steps is boring and lined most of the way up with shops selling fizzy drinks, fruit juices, beverages,... More

I saw this from above at the Soviet memorial. It's huge! If you have time go see the Soviet memorial above as well. Good thing to do at the same time. Gorgeous views of UB.

Came here in January. It was of course very cold and icy. My boyfriend and I climbed the 500+ steps to the top and it was spectacular. Perfect 360degree view with the city to one side, mountains to the other. The memorial itself has amazing paintings but for me, the view was the main attraction. Plus its a great relief... More

Been there on the New Year 2017. A Soviet type shaped monument looking from the ground. When on top you will have a good view of UB. Impressed to see many locals, adults and children there. Clearly its a sign of how local people view Russia and it seems to me they treasure that relationship.

From the top you get an excellent view of the city. Its a long hike up the stairs but worth it for what you can see from the top
