Wat Si Muang is not as big or as elaborate as others--but it is the only one we visited where the Lao people were actually coming and praying, making offerings, spending time. Many were students either asking for help with school/tests or thanking for help received--there are different offerings depending on whether you are asking or thanking. Many couples were... More

If you only have time to see one temple in Vientienne; make it this one. Look out for its important relics, the pillar of Vientienne, which is surrounded by Buddahs; including the Emerald Buddah and a melted Buddah which survived the fire which destroyed the original temple. Behind this building is a old Khmer ruin which is covered in flags.... More

This temple is unique as it seem to be different from the others. There seem to be a mixture Hindu and Buddhism, especially the Rock Pillar inside one of the 2 main hall. You should try lifting the buddha idol 3 times while making your request, if you're able to lift it effortlessly, then there is more chance that your... More

When you enter to worship you have to put flowers and candle on the tray.

Great and ornate Wat. It is nice and near the center of town. It is a good place to stop for about an hour.
