Having seen photos before I arrived I was looking forward to seeing this Stupa. It has recently been painted but the surrounding covered walkway roof was being re tiled. Lots of green netting around it along with building works going on killed the moment. On the bright side it is unique but not as big as I thought it was... More

Okay to see, nothing too special as it was under a lot of reconstruction. There is Big gold painted structure which compared to a Thailand is very tacky indeed.

That Luang temple is one of destination you have to visit in Vientiane, very beautiful. The gold- covered stupa looks great sacred and shine particular when reflect by sunshine. As a Buddhist, I'm so delighted to visit this place.

Very impressive stupa, with a few temples surrounding it. During my visit, I chanced upon the birthday celebration of the abbot, and there was a food and cultural music fair. Many lay people came to pay their respects, and devotees set up food stalls to distribute free hot cooked food and cold drinks to those visiting. A nice gesture of... More

During our visit, there was a lot of construction going on so we were unable to enter some parts of the site. However, it was amazing to see the stupa. It is a very nice place to walk around and take photos. However, we wish there was some information posted at the site as we were unable to find out... More

Beautiful gold stupa located a bit far from the center but in an absolutely walking distance. There is also a statue of big laying Buddha there.

The sacred stupa is of national importance: the place has been a place for pilgrims for centuries, the present stupa was built in the 16th century. European travellers who came to Laos in the 17th century described a building that was covered in pure gold. The present structure was re-built by the French based on original plans The layout of... The place is really photogenic. Its spread over a good area and the temples are very beautiful and attractive. The atmosphere is very calm and soothing. One can spend some time and relax here in shade. The statue of sleeping buddha is worth seeing. Overall its a must-visit place.

We were shown around this holy place by 2 monks in the middle of the day, very hot experience. A ongoing big renovation makes it like you are on a working trip together with a lot of local workers, making a new impression of the temple area and buildings. It is a stunning wonderful experience to be here and the... More
