If you like to ski or go up mountains just not far away from Bishkek,I recommend Chunkurchak Ski Base(Gornolyjnaya Baza Chunkurchak). A little bit searching from books and net, meaning of the word "Chunkurchak"-"Chunkur" directly translating from local kyrgyz language "cave",however here "Chunkurchak" is hills with...More

Chunkurchak ski base is currently the best skiing location near Bishkek. New ski base with relatively new infrastructure and equipment has 3 main lifts and tracks. These offer relatively good skiing experience for all levels of skiers. There is one ski and equipment rent at...More

There are few cable ways, each for every type of skiers (for beginners, for those who know how to ski, for mid-extremals). Slopes light enough and pretty short. So if you are searching for the most extreme ski resort ... at least, you'll be able...More

It's about an hour from Bishkek, as far as I know you can reach it by a Marshrutka. I've been there with a group (TUK), so can't give more information. The infrastructure is good, lifts work properly and seem to be safe. Also, the chair...More

Ski resort near Bishkek; about an hour. Average ski resort with slopes for average skiers. Lifts stop from time to time. Ski rental equipment awful. Better rent from Bishkek the day before. Plenty of outdoor food selling and no cafes/restaurants to warmup.

This was my first visit to Chunkurchak. It is a quite nice place to visit. A perfect place for beginners of skiing. But there were few problems like - lack of garbage cans, lift was stopping to work from time to time.

It's a nice place for beginners. I went there without doing some prior research about the place, as somebody from the hotel I was staying in suggested it. But when I got there I was really disappointed as all 4 ski pistes were for beginners....More

Over all it's a nice ski base and it's growing every year! It's a good place to learn how to ski and not really a good place for a pro skier. It's possible to do some basic ski touring around the ski base and that...More

One lift, too many people. Hope the other lifts get built soon! Location is good as it is close to Bishkek. The road needs some work. Parking is good. If the lifts and service get better this could be a good spot for beginner skiing...More
