Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We took bus # 52 from the city center to this area. It was difficult to cross the road here, as this is a very busy area. The 111 metre flagpole is visible from a far distance away. It ranks as the fourth tallest flagpole in the world. We had visited one of the tallest, at Peace Village in North Korea, which stood at 160 meters. The Kazakh flag is 450 square metres in size.
The reason why we visited this area, is that the flagpole area is also a monument to political repression. It is dedicated to those who died in Soviet times as a result of repression. We had visited the Alzhir and Karlag camp sites and museums, so were familiar with the reasons for the monument. The flowerbed is placed along the steps to the flagpole base, and a mix of red and white flowers were used to create a Kazakh symbol. There was gold lettering in Kazakh to the right of the flowers.
The Ethno-memorial complex is the main attraction in this area. The circus and the bridge across the Ishim River are attractive sights from the flagpole base.Another political repression monument, is the hunger onument, which is located at the intersection of Republic and Abay Avenues.

The National Flag is set atop a hill. Its size is impressive. There are good views of the park from the basis of the flag. The best time to go is when the flag is based or lowered, as only then the true (awesome) size of the flag becomes apparent.
