The monument is nothing special but the surrounding park is great for walking or relaxing. Photo ops are great too.

This monument sits in a very large square and has a lot of significance to the locals. I liked the stone statue on the south (?) side of the column!

Nice monument set in a recently refurbished park (Wat Botum Park) in central Phnom Penh, plenty of drink carts and suchlike around the park if you want something.

Came across this during the water festival. It was surrounded by people relaxing and eating in the park. The actual monument is quite a standard one, but its' significance is so important to the Cambodians.

Just a standard socialist style monument. Nothing too much to get excited about. As you walk away from the palace and in the general direction of the independence monument you'll pass by here, but it's not worth going out of your way to visit.

In terms of Cambodian history, this simple, stand alone monument is important as it reflects the overthrow and thus the end of the Pol Pot regime after its defeat by Vietnam. Thank you, Vietnam! The monument is of a simple design but sits at one...More
