The site itself is interesting to those who are not over the Palace and Pagoda thing yet, but the customer service by the ticket sellers and ticket inspectors is a real turn-off! There is clearly no connection between customer satisfaction and remuneration of these grumps. The service we received was a long way short of professional. But at the same... More

A visit to the Royal Palace takes you back in time and puts parts of Vietnamese history into perspective. The Royal Palace is an impressive building and is well worth a visit. It is easy to reach in central Hue, and it is easy to walk around. We visited on a damp and drizzly afternoon, and it was still enjoyable.

From the magnificent entry gates, over the bridge to the palace this is a place that you can feel the history of the royal court. This Palace is worth the visit, it is also part of the Citadel and you can spend a whole day walking around.

The old royal palace and hidden city analogous to the Forbidden City in Beijing. It's a must visit in Hue.

The Royal Palace is a part of the Imperial Citadel complex which you will almost surely walk through during a visit. There has been some partial restoration but the effect is that the buildings don't really look that authentic. Still it's a pleasant way to spend an afternoon wandering around this huge complex.

The palace is composed of many buildings such as a meeting room, a residencial building, a wives quater, a concubine quater. The furniture, decoration of the wall and roofs is particularly beautiful. It is really awesome.

I think Lonely Planet is the travel authority that suggests you come in and see the royal palace (where the emperor had important ceremonies) and then move counter clockwise moving throughout the entire citadel. Fairly wise advice. You start on an impressive note that way and end on a strong note, as well. There is so much to soak in... More

The complex is massive and supposedly was restored but needs extensive work as much is in need of renovation. A pleasant afternoon walking around probably try get on a buggy tour as very tiring. We paid for ticket to see 2 tombs as well cost 560k/28 US this lasts 2 days.

The royal palace is actually part of the citadel compound. While it's not that interesting after all, it's still worth a 15-30 minute visit just to be able to explore some of its rooms.
