Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Well there is not much to see now as the building is hoarded up and undergoing reconstruction. Come back in a few years.

The Thai Hoà Palace element of the Royal Palace is currently undergoing some kind of redevelopment/restoration. As such it is fenced off, inaccessible, and mostly invisible.

There is plenty else to see within the Royal Palace complex though

Just after crossing the magnificent "Cua Ngo Mon", the awesome "Noon Gate" of the Imperial Citadel, you will reach "Thái Hòa" - the "Palace of the Supreme Harmony". Built in 1805 by Emperor Gia Long, it is a landmark of Hue Imperial Citadel. "Thái Hòa" is certainly the largest and most beautiful palace in the Citadel's complex. In its interior, the famous golden throne of the Emperors of the Nguyen Dynasty, surrounded by innumerable red lacquered columns, with emblems of royal dragons. It was mainly used for the Imperial court's rituals, such as celebrations, anniversaries, weddings, coronations and diplomatic ceremonies. "Thái Hòa" palace was pretty much damaged during Vietnam War, but has been restored to its full beauty! And remember, Hue and its monumental complex was appointed by Unesco, in 1993, as a "World Heritage Site"! Another good reason to do not miss it! Enjoy!

A very big and ornate palace complex. Lots of buildings and gardens to explore, keep looking around! There's also a couple of interesting museums with more objects from the palace outside the walls to the east.

Constructed in 1805, Thai Hoa Palace houses the throne of the Nguyen Emperors. The Palace is adorned with gilding, lacquer and enameled bronzeware. An expansive courtyard in front of the palace is known as the Salutation Court, were twice a month the Mandarins participated in the Grand Audience Ceremony. Coronation ceremonies took place here, as well as official celebrations and receptions. The Thai Hoa Palace is considered the most important structure in the Imperial City.

Thai Hoa Palace was a symbol of the Nguyen dynasty, the last dynasty of Vietnam. This is probably the most impressive building at the Hue Imperial Citadel.

The citadel is basically the main reason for visiting Hue and worth a detour. Situated within the citadel stands the Hoa palace. Unfortunately a lot has been damaged during the war.

one of the main buildings in the Imperial City (Citadel), the Thai Hoa Palace has nice details and a rich interior.

We are glad we visited here on our stay in Hue. Although it was a miserable and rainy day that we visited the Imperial City was beautiful. Very interesting and beautiful architecture and artwork. We were lucky when we visited as the place was almost empty! Definitely take a trip here if you're in the area. They also have a lovely little gift shop.
