Worth a Visit

Ok so the various pieces of hardware are rusting away neglectedly which is a shame. But it's well worth the 30k Dong entrance fee to see the MIG, the Huey and a few other pieces, if nothing else the way the anti-imperialist descriptions are written make it worth having a look. There are three buildings with lots of photographic memorabilia to look at too, it's a shame the writing is a little small for my older eyes.

Overall worth a look if you have a spare hour and an interest in the Vietnam war.

look from outside
Dec 2019
the Hue War Museum is the same as the Historical and Revolutionary Museum here on Tripadvisor, so check also there for recommendations. My opinion: It's enough to walk along outside and look the tanks and airplanes exposed in the park of the museum. The inside is not really worth the money you pay for the entry fee.

A different view

This museum present a different view of the war and not a pretty picture of Americans to a degree even though we were fighting for Vietnam. Lots of old relics to see that were left behind.

This was very disappointing after the museum inHo Chi Minh , hoping to learn more about the war in this part of Vietnam 🇻🇳. The staff were not interested or helpful . Not worth going out of the way to find better off getting a tour to DMZ .

Visit Hue war museum next to the imperial city, many old war relics such as tanks and helicopters which were left behind or captured by the North Vietnamese after the American forces retreated from Vietnam.Museum is walking distance from the centre of Hue or hire taxi for less than 60,000Vnd whilst there you can also visit the Imperial city

Short and sweet

Not really much to see here beyond the old planes and tanks. That being said its worth a look considering the price to get in.

When in the area

We dropped by after a visit to the citadel, being a of a military tragic, it is quite small however, still worth a look when in the area, the yard holding the war relics, makes for some nice piccies.

I was hoping for an emotional tribute to the battle of Hue. What I got were a few burned out machines of war and a bunch of blurry artifacts in an unlit room.

Just such a horrible miss. Fortunately it’s only like $1.50 and you can see the planes and tanks through the fence.

Small but worth the small fee of 30,000 vnd. The museum didn’t interest me much but it’s interesting to see old tanks and planes up close. You can almost feel the horror of war just being so close to them.
