European Architecture in the middle of Saigon

Very nice cathedral in European style. In my opinion not a "must see" of Vietnam, but if you have some spare time in Saigon, it's worth visiting.

If your passing you can take a look at the architecture. But it is nothing special. Your not able to go inside! Not worth going if ypu don't need to be in the neighboorhood!

No write-up on its history whatsoever. It's a good photo spot tho. Must beware of donut 'seller', looks scam-ish.

Interesting square with the Cathedral and the Post Office as examples of the influence of French architecture. Found the inside of the Post Officer more inspiring. I understand that the Cathedral suffered quite a bit of damage in the wars but it is not welcoming and the inside is very plain and lacks atmosphere.

Notre Dame Cathedral is worth visiting. I wished to have attended mass there. Would have made the visit even more worthwhile.

Very nice scenery for photo and next to it is Saigon Central Post Office. Can buy post card here to mail to anywhere in the world. Next to Central Post Office there is a book street (i.e. next to McDonald) which is good for taking a cup of Vietnamese Coffee here. We like here especially for those who like to... More

In my travels across IndoChina this is the first time I came across such a stunning Cathedral in which I celebrated the first Sunday of Advent! The splendor of the church's architecture, the spiritual awakening of my conscience and consciousness and the lovely celebration of Holy Mass is the highlight of my Marketing visit which saw me travel across Phnom... This 'cathedral' was built during French occupation. It's quite surreal at there's also a Replica Champs elysee, and a French inspired palace complete with the tanks who stormed the palace to end French occupation. It's worth a visit but bizarrely for a cathedral is closed on Sunday

In any other city the Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral probably wouldn't attract a single tourist. The cathedral is small, not especially magnificent (only the front elevation is particularly interesting) and surprisingly seemed closed to visitors at all times.
