- Ali921Edinburgh, United Kingdom1,411 contributionsOnly worth a 5 minute photo stopWhat am I not seeing ? This needs 5 minutes. Take a photo of the exterior - very impressively designed building. Go inside and take a photo of the roof. Avoid the souvenir shops and get out. Job done. Was so disappointed.Visited November 2022Written 12 December 2022
- Abovetheclouds2,233 contributionsA must.Right by Notre Dame Cathedral so do both in one go. Although the Cathedral is still under construction. The Post Office is a nice building. Like stepping back in time and full of tourists. Well kept. You don't need long. Souvenir shops inside too. A must whilst visiting the city.Visited December 2022Travelled soloWritten 29 December 2022
- annminkyUnited States1,591 contributionsWell maintained Post OfficeOur tour guide took me and my sister in law to this place. A historical building still maintained to this date. Small shops inside. You can buy postcards and stamps and have them mail it for you. Although there’s not much to see, I think this is an important piece of history for Vietnam.Visited December 2022Travelled with familyWritten 9 January 2023

Lots of ice cream sellers at the entrance with tape recorded loops loops announcing their flavors . Inside you can buy souvenirs but you will also find a nearby post office. The restored cabins of the time and the ceiling are beautiful.Visited February 2023Written 12 February 2023
- Omni FWhitsett, North Carolina225 contributionsDefinitely stop in!I love to write letters so this was definitely on my agenda. What a beautiful building. And don't buy any souvenirs until after you visit here -- their prices are SO MUCH better than the vendors at the Ben Thanh Market! I purchased some propaganda posters at the market and the exact same posters were 50% less at the post office! Plus, the post office has a fabulous selection of post cards for purchase. Definitely stop in.Visited February 2023Written 16 February 2023
- AnnPawineeBangkok, Thailand16 contributionsGood placeI went here because of this post office is between Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon and Ho Chi Minh City’s Book street. Lovely building is Western style. Also I was lucky because of I saw Miss universe 2022 she went there too. lolVisited February 2023Travelled soloWritten 3 March 2023
- Tee9 contributionsNiceNice building from the outside, okay on the inside. Good selection of postcards and some souvenirs inside. I was walking around stopping at landmarks around the city and enjoyed this as a stop, but probably wouldn't go too out of the way to see it.Visited February 2023Written 22 March 2023

Since the post office is still working, it’s an interesting visit as most buildings of this type are museums. Worth a look

Sorry but this place is not worthy to be so popular. Sure its a nice building for a photo but i was there for about 5 minutes. Saw it, took a photo and moved on. Nothing special.

A delight to look around.
Bought some postcards to send to friends and family.
It was a bit strange that 'mailbox' was previously the phone booth stall (from the post office staff selling stamps its the first stall to the right), but addressees got their postcards eventually.

For tourism:
Lovely & very charming old post office, beautiful architecture and good for photos.
I’d absolutely recommend sending a postcard home!
(! Please remember- bring your own pen, they charge you to use them if you don’t have one!)
You can buy postcards inside the post office for as little as 5,000 and most of them being 30,000dong. Write your postcard out, visit the woman with the stamps (she was the last counter on the right hand side for us) dab them on the wet sponge & pop the postcard in the overflowing basket on the counter. ( it cost about £2 to send each postcard to the UK- 3 stamps need to go onto 1 postcard)
For sending parcels overseas:
Seems overwhelming at first but is very straight forward, we had been collecting things along our travels and needed to send it home to free up space.
We took a big bag of things to the post office, headed straight to the back of the room (to the picture of Ho Chi Minh) where you will find a counter called ‘parcel and items packaging’- you need to fill out forms of what it inside, the quantity and the value of the items, the bag will be weighed & packaged ready to go.
As of Oct 2023 we send a parcel around 6.8kg and it cost us around 4 million dong ( about £130)
The staff were so helpful & their English is brilliant.

Inside and out it's an icon of colonial architecture. Be wowed by the amazing domed ceiling with skylights letting in abundant natural light, check out the old telephone booths and know that this post office still operates and has Uncle Ho up high watching over it.

The overall structure is still in great operational condition. There are so many souvenir vendors within the premises but most stands are crammed down hallways making it almost inaccessible at times. The front of the building is where the Hop-on Hop-Off bus tours start. Worth the visit

We have been to HCMC many times and have visited this place on several occasions though not every time. It is one of the iconic landmarks in District 1. But in our recent visit, we have dropped by this place again as my cousins were visiting the city for the first time.
It was Sunday and the GPO was very crowded and packed with visitors, both locals and tourists. Many were queuing to buy and send postcards and parcels while others were shopping for local souvenirs. Inside the building was very warm and humid (it was drizzling outside but windy) and even for a short while, we were all perspiring and so we went outside. Hope they can improve the air ventilation here, maybe installing more fans, aircoolers or aircon.
But it's nice and one can feel the historical aspect of this building as if time has stopped with many vintage and old setups, decors and furniture.

Bonjour ,
Pensez vous qu’on puisse visiter Ho Chi Minh tout seuls ou bien avec un guide.
Pour visiter la ville.
Merci

Bien entendu, il est possible de visiter HCMV tout seul;

Hey :
I have a package STUCK in YOU POST OFFICE !!! Yes it is :Prepared to Dispatch ...... BACK to me. Since August of this YEAR !!!!!!!
So is the book empty ??? the contents removed ??? There were gifts to a child graduating Junior High... IF they are stolen I will be ashamed , for the Post Office in Vietnam.
WHERE IS THE BOX ???? Tracking Number IS : CX127678725US
Do the Vietnamese still hate Americans so much that a gift to a child is lost ?
A Vietnamese child. YES ..... Gift . I NEED to find out WHERE this box is. I have waited since early August .
THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THIS FAILURE BY THE POSTAL SERVICE . None ~
