Central Post Office in Saigon
Jul 2020 • Couples
A fantastic French Colonial architecture building having Roman archesxand gilded glass windows. This building houses old telephone boxes and historical
Pictures. I first visited in Dec 2019 and its a must visit place anytime a visitor is in Saigon now renamed Ho Chi Ming city.
Visitors queue up to post letters home to get a much prized Date stamp bookmark on their letters.
Right next in the square is the Notre Dame Cathedral another must visit place.

A Favorite Haunt during Holidays
Dec 2020
Have used the Central Post Office since 2006 and found the artefacts to my liking. You need lots of patience in sending Post Cards to the U.S. Putting postage on the envelope is a challenge, and you need at least one month (October) if you want the Cards to arrive before Thanksgiving. I have to saythe hand-made cards never fail to impress

A quick visit would do.

Just stopped by to catch a glimpse of the architecture. There were shops with souvenirs on either sides.

Great place to visit but many gift store instead of document and stuff to discover. Can consider it as short trip visit in town.

Very Interesting
Dec 2020 • Couples
This 19th Century post office takes one back in time. Still a functioning post office, a large photo of Ho Chi Minh stares down at all who enter. We bought a few post cards at the gift shop to the right to send to relatives. Worth a 10-15 minute visit.

Nice place to visit in Saigon
Nov 2020
French style building, landmark of Ho Chi Minh City. You will see a lot of tourists and people filming here. It is near other attractions. Easy to access, big, inside is more beautiful than outside. It sells stamps, postcards, souvenirs. You should be quiet inside.

A remnant of the French colonial period ...
Jan 2020
The magnificent construction, sided by "Notre Dame Cathedral", will certainly catch your eyes while visiting Ho Chi Minh City. This is the old Saigon's "Central Post Office", built in the last years of the 19th century, after a project by French architects Alfred Foulhoux and Auguste Henri Vildieu. As a remnant of the French colonial period in Indochina, it has characteristics of the Gothic and Renaissance architectural styles, as well as French influences. Its artistic facade, internal domes and vaults, arched windows and wooden shutters are a perfect mix of Western and Asian styles. A giant clocks hangs above its main gate. Inside, check the ancient red phone booths and President Ho Chi MInh's portrait on the back wall of the central hall. Be ready for crowds and vendors, as there many stalls selling souvenirs, lacquerware and all the trinkets you may imagine, even "postcards and postage stamps"! Amazing! Visits to the "Central Post Office" and the awesome neighboring "Notre Dame Cathedral" can be easily combined. Enjoy!

Beautiful but crowded
Jan 2020 • Couples
The architecture is brilliant, high ceilings and ample day light but all of this gets overshadowed by the number of people inside.

Apart from stamps there are a lot of other things one can buy from the shopping stalls in here. Stamps being the one thing you should carry back if you are a Philatelic like my husband the other stuff was easily available all around Ben Thanh and other parts of the city and country as well.

Where to buy souvenir and postcard
Feb 2020
I came here because we want to visit the Cathedral which is under construction on Feb 2020. It mostly souvenir shops, post card, travel agent. The telephone box is empty and we just take some good picture in there.

Wish all post office buildings are as pretty as this one
Feb 2020
Most visitors are here not for postal services, but to gaze at the beautiful architecture of this heritage building, both exteriors and interiors. Open 7 days a week, its location right next to the Notre Dame Cathedral is an added bonus.
