We drove around the West Lake at night and it was beautiful. Our best is these bicycles that are parked around the lake selling BO BIA - a rice pancake sort of thing filled with sesame seeds, fresh coconut and strips of sugar cane - mindblowingly good!!!

The lake is very polluted as told because of sewage ...and the authorities are trying to clean it up. Very green and mucky not crystal clear water. Dotted in the horizon are luxury hotels and the city's skyline. A so so visit.

This place is included into the city tour, so you can participate in (9am-3pm or so) or visit by yourself.

I stayed at the InterContinental Hotel in the neighborhood north of the city and around the lake. The neighborhood is in a state of transition as the area is being knocked down and rebuilt with more luxury housing and hotels. The old markets are starting to be pushed aside as progress hits this city. The big flower market is around... More

West Lake, to the north of Hanoi's Old Quarter, is the largest lake in the city. It was once a branch of the nearby Red River. In itself, if is of little interest to tourists, but it is the site of Chua Tran Quoc Pagoda, a 1,500-year old temple set on a small island in the lake, and this is... More

Nice place to walk around and see some interesting people and life. The weather was perfect the day we walked around and it was full of photographers doing the wedding thing. Vendors selling fresh fruit and people just hanging having a good time. You can pick up an electric car tour at one side of the park but not certain... More

And there was a Chinese temple. Good sunset photo opportunity. Some cafes and restaurants nearby. The lake itself was a drab. Saw many dead fish stomached turned floating around. That's about it. Really.
