The west lake is a large body of water that limits Hanoi city by the west. The life arround the side of this lake is quite interesting to see as well as the buildings reflescting in the water in a windless day

We caught a taxi over to West Lake it was a nice surprise to find these lakes and lovely parks and gardens and not very crowded in such a big city. There are water activities to enjoy if you wish such as pedal boats, but we visited the Tain Quoc Pagoda which was lovely to walk around and admire.

A biggest lake of Hanoi. It is very nice but was polluted. Hanoian should preserve or take more actions on it to protect enviroment

I don't know why there are so many negative comments about the lake. Yes it is a lake, yes there are some areas that have trash, but no one swims in the lake so who cares? There is a sidewalk almost all the way around which makes it nice for running or walking. It's fun to see the water park... More

We did not walk all around so there might be nice bits but the section we walked was a dirty smelly dump the government and locals do not take any care of this place. Sections were better where higher restaurants backed on to it but there was still the stench. Like most of this part of Hanoi it is pretty... More

Not sure why reviews said it was dirty. I thought it looked ok Super big can use a pedal boat or walk or cycle or use the golf buggy. Many options. Nice photo opportunity. Beautiful temple there and pagoda there too.

West lake is a taxi ride away from the old city and a bit less chaotic. The pagoda there is lovely with a peaceful feel. There are paddle boats available at one end if you feel energetic.

It is a pretty area with different architecture but have a feeling it was a little like "lost in West Lake rather than Saigon" found local food markets and some coffee areas but a little unsure what the attraction might be for tourists.

I bought a little turtle for 50,000 ($2.50) and released it into the lake. I will now have good luck for a long time!

The locals like to go here and do exercise and there are a few places dotted around, but it is too big to walk around. We visited early evening around 4pm having walked from the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, to get to the small park on the Thy Khoe road we had to take our lives in our hands crossing... More
