This museum is wonderful! There is an inside exhibit featuring historical village scenes and outdoors many thatched roof homes indicative to the different geographical areas of North and South Vietnam. I enjoyed the open air rooms depicting life as it was generations ago and how the people made the best of their natural resources. There is also a room dedicated... More

This is an interesting museum but the outdoor displays of housing styles throughout Vietnam were of most interest to us. Uni students at various displays can explain exhibits. Most have some English but not all. Inside exhibition was a bit underlit and sometimes difficult to view and read about.

We spent about 2.5 hours at this museum and had a great time. We learned a lot about the various ethnic groups in Vietnam, some of which we'll be meeting later in our trip. The traditional clothing on display was among my favorites. We were starting to get a bit of museum fatigue, so we just did a walk through... More

Excellent presentation of the various tribes, their ethnic origin, traditions, culture and dress. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Hanoi. There was a nice restaurant attached run by a local chef's college.

Visit here at relativity low cost to get a good understanding of Vietnam history. We did know of the 54 different cultures making up the nation of Vietnam, visit and learn in a very hands on way.

A very informative and well-organized museum. The indoor area displays ethnic people's costumes, information about living style, culture,.. But the outdoor was really amazing with replicas of houses in the mountainous areas, some traditional games if you go at weekends,.. Allow yourself around2-3 hour visit to enjoy fully this wonderful museum!

You have to be a bit of an egghead to go to an ethnology museum. Having said that, this one is not bad and very informative about the country's many ethnic groups.

Such a great place to visit to learn not only about Vietnamese ethnology but also many other countries in Asia. Definitely check out the building next to the main building for more interesting artefacts.
