We spent 3-4 hours here which was plenty of time to have a decent look around. We visited the traditional houses that have been re-constructed outside by villagers of the area that the housing style is representative of firstly. This provided a great insight with all houses having good explanations in English and French and of couses Vietnamese. There are... More

We spent couple of hours in the museum & enjoyed it! It gives You a through review of the many cultures of Vietnam from the past to the present! The museum includes indoor arts & outdoors sections! Beautifully decorated & the explanations are written both in English & French! You get to see the basic cultural foundation of Vietnam &... More

It's not in the center, but well worth the trip. You can either take a taxi (about 5 USD from the city center) or easily accesible also by bus no. 14 e.g. from the top of Hoan Kiem lake or bus stop at Hang Dau Water Tank. Google maps will help you, where to get off the bus, and have... More

Nice to learn about the culture but we were pretty disappointed about the museum. The museum is not really interactif (could be on some part pretty boring) and not really updated. You will learn more from a journey around Sapa or up North. There is a nice collection in the other building, the traditional tissus and costumes are beautiful. I... More

Great exhibits and lots of insight into the many ethnic groups throughout Vietnam. Lots of fun activities for kids. Regret that we did not have more time to spend there

This is a very large musueum, we explored inside where the information about the ethnice groups is amazing. Especailly as then we visited mai chau afterwards. Outside is all examples of different thatched styles, everything is well presented and interesting. Was quite a taxi ride from the old quarter but worth it, places to eat and drink and tolets

Really interesting. It looks at past lifestyles and they have transported different types if dwellings to the site. You can go inside and see how people lived and worked. Children (and adults) can play old games together. There's also a restaurant. Indoors is less interactive but still very interesting.

It was not my cup of tea but it can be very educational if you like rural ethnology/architecture. Beware that is can be very crowded with local school kids - hundreds of them crawling everywhere.

A while from old quarter (1hr 10m walk or 30min taxi), it's a good place to get a grounding on different ethnic groups in asia - not just vietnam. I nearly missed the second building - some great pieces from all over the world in there. Spent about 3 hours- would've been better to have 4/5 as I like to... More
