A rare breed of turtle enjoys this popular lake almost as much as countless locals and tourists. Hoan Kiem Lake is a dynamic daily tableau, from morning walks amid locals doing exercises on the shore, to young couples water-gazing on park benches, to the multiple shopping and sight-seeing opportunities in the vicinity. Centrally located in the city, Hoan Kiem Lake serves as a massive home base, and provides endless people-watching and recreational opportunities on the edge of the Old Quarter.

Lovely lake for relaxing walk or sit down with shady trees

Great spot to sit, read, people watch, have coffee, beer, ice cream or do nothing. Locals fish from some spots & it is always cool even on the hottest of days down by the water... read more

A beautiful lake to walk around. There is the contrast in traffic between day and night - when the street is relatively quiet to peak traffic periods. It's also one of the few places you'll see demonstrations occasionally. The lake can be used as a way to navigate your way around the one end of the old quarter. This is... More

Great spot to sit, read, people watch, have coffee, beer, ice cream or do nothing. Locals fish from some spots & it is always cool even on the hottest of days down by the water sitting on the wall under the trees. It is a spot for travellers to get away from the hustle & bustle of traffic and there... More

The Hoan Kiem Lake is no wonder of natural beauty but it is a great little spot to sit and relax if the busy streets of the old quarter are getting a bit much for you. There are a lot of locals around the waters edge, often doing tai chi, reading or chatting with friends and family. I did spot... More

It is really a beautiful place to visit and could spend a whole day walking around the lake. I had visited Hanoi five years ago, but now it looks more attractive and having banned all traffic on weekends, it is far more attractive than ever before. The banning of traffic at werkends, has been, i think, the cause for thousands... More

Recommend travellers to stay at hotels nearer to Restored Sword Lake which is very attractive for doing physical exercises, enjoying beautiful sceneries and trying out good restaurants surrounded there.

This is a lake in the center of Hanoi with a historical story to be heard and it is walking street around in the weekend and there are lots of interesting things to see especially the live music show. Lemon ice-cream is the most delicious ice-cream I have ever had and I think everyone must try it once. If you... More

Love this place. Perfect to stroll around even better on a Saturday and Sunday when the roads are blocked off. We loved spending time here watching locals out and about on weekends with their families and pets.

If u have a free early morning or a late evening, goodcto walk round this lake n soak in the local atmosphere. Locals may want to pose with You and ask You where you come from etc. Good way to digest after breakfast or dinner.
