Situated in the centre of the UNESCO-declared World Heritage area, the Sung Sôt or Surprise Grotto is on Bo Hòn Island, and is one of the finest and widest grottoes of Ha Long Bay.Ascending to the grotto, the way is covered by trees and foliage, and consists of great paved stone blocks.Inside, it is partitioned into two chambers; the first one being similar to a wide theatre hall. As it was part of our Ha Long Bay tour, we couldn't avoid this. It's super crowded and there's no fun exploring it. It's sad because it's a beautiful cave and something that will be preserved for many more years. Too many tours at one go spoils the experience.

Couldn't believe the size till you landed. Such a variety of good spots to see and effortlessly took several pixs. The shape and sizes of the stones will astonished you. Seeing the photographs is just half in the same class as been on the area .... exceedingly prescribed.

Toured the Sung Sot Cave the first day of our 2 day/1 night cruise on Aphrodite cruise of Halong Bay. Very impressive collection of caves, stalagmites and stalactites. Seems to be the thing to do with all of the cruise ships in Halong Bay, since there were so many tourists going through the caves. It is a huge cave with... More

That is my exact feeling as I followed the tour guide into the various chambers in the cave. Numerous beautiful and interesting shapes can be seen from the stalactites and stalagmites and it is up to one's imagination to interpret what they look like, including naughty shapes. The cave is very tourist friendly, having a walkway built that stretched all... More

It is supposed to be one of the prettiest and largest caves in Halong Bay. Illumination is very colorful (Vietnamese taste)

Plan to spend at least a couple of hours in this cave. Amazing architecture of Nature and lights at the right locations. According to our guide it may not be accessible in monsoon.
