We went on an organised tour to the pass which unfortunately fell on a wet day with low cloud so we could nothing of the road or surroundings. Fortunately when we left Da Nang to drive to Hue we took the same road. It was still raining but the low cloud had gone and I could see the potential in... More

My friends and I drove motorbikes from Hue to Hoi An via this pass and it was one of the most serene experiences of my life. the journey started with a little bit of rain and was foggy yet mystical in the Hue side then sunny and clear in the Hoi An side. it took us roughly 9hrs but thats... More

If your are at all adventurous, then this is a must do. The Hai Van Pass, in-between Da Nang and Hue, provides, perhaps, the most spectacular views of coastal Vietnam. There are mountains, jungles, waterfalls, and sea. All the while, there breath-taking views. I would recommend renting a motorbike and taking off! We loved it so much we have done... More

Just finished the tour from hue to hoi an .. what better time to write a review than when I'm still on a high!! Absolutely amazing from start to finish. Booked the tour from hue backpackers hostel with a guide, $34 - and best money I've spent during my travels. An absolute must in Vietnam!

Absolutely amazing, get and rent a one way scooter and do it by yourself instead of a tour. Just be careful of the busses, the bus drivers are mental.

A bit of a destination for a scenic lookout if you're going between Hoi An/Danang and Hue. If you aren't in a rush definitely take the long way, rather than the tunnel, at least for one direction. Very scenic route, with smooth roads and nice outlooks along the coast. I actually traveled with my bicycle and went up and over... More

Worthwhile to stop at the top when driving from hue to da nang or vice versa. Also nice countryside on the way to the top. Nice place for selfies...:)

The scenic way to travel from Hue to Da Nang. Breathtaking views, even in the rain. Only one toilet stop along the way, and you need to pay! ;) Much more fun than taking the train, which we did in the opposite direction.

We were traveling from Hue to go to Danang airport. Considering it only adds 15mins onto one's journey (plus time to stop a couple of times to take photos etc.), it was well worth taking this 'scenic route'. Some lovely views from a couple of places including the old fort at the top. You can also get drinks and food... More
