This is a muslim island, making ot somewhat different from other Thai islands. There are some huge superexpensive 5-star resorts, but other than these, the island is approachable, the beaches were mostly empty in February and you can relax and enjoy nature in its purest...More

I almost want to keep this place off the tourist radar. Koh Yao Yai is still very quiet and peaceful compared to many of the other islands. Development appears to be coning but still quite peaceful and natural. Lets hope that lasts!!!

Highly recommend this island for people who want to be relaxed, no noise. Perfect for honeymoon, single problem is alcohol is available at few shops/resorts mostly.
