Just finished a 3 day course with Ms Wanna in Full Body Thai Massage. She is NOT on old Thai Lady as her name may suggest, but a sprite-like, happy-go-lucky lady who makes learning fun and is very patient.
PROS- Ms Wanna will take you step-by-step through each technique and will show it to you many times if needed. She is very patient and you get to work with her one on one, which is wonderful.
She has a great sense of humor, is professional, and will whip up something tasty for you during breaks. The guide you receive has pictures of all the techniques, which helps with Thai massage tremendously bc of all the different positions. You CANNOT beat her price. Hands down the best price, especially for private teaching. I paid 1950 Baht for three days, 12 hours. But check her website for updated prices.

CONS- You don't receive much theory, which was not a problem for me, as I also do Shiatsu and the theory is similar. I think it is important for a therapist of any technique to know the theory behind the massage. What makes it beneficial and how does it work on all levels of the person: physical, energetic, mental, emotional. What are the energy lines we are working with, for example? I'm not saying she doesn't know the theory, but it may just be difficult for her to teach it in English. She basically does the techniques on you and then you do them on her. This is how you learn it. Plain and straight forward, but without much theory, like I said.

This is fine if you already know the theory or just want to learn the massage for fun, to do on family & friends. But if this something you want to use professionally, then I would def get the theory somewhere else, either online or at another school.

The 3 day Thai Massage treatment is a little over 2 hours long, which I have read is a good time for Thai Massage. But if you are a beginner, you will need more than 3 days bc you want to have at least one full day to just practice the whole thing. Again, if you don't plan to do the treatment in its entirety and just want to learn some cool stretches, then this is not an issue. I got through the whole thing in 2 days and had the third day to practice, but I also breezed through most of it, because I have the experience. For beginners who don't, it will be a challenge for sure.

In summary, Ms Wanna is pretty awesome and depending on what you are looking for she may or may not be the right fit for you. If you want something private, cheap, one-on-one, fun, and laid back, then this is the place to go. But if you are someone who wants to add Thai Massage to your repertoire and have no experience with this type of technique, then you may want to do 4 days with her or find someone who can also give you the theory behind it, because it is really important to know.

Although I did have fun and I liked mis Wana a lot, I found that the course lacks professionalism and it didnt serve my purpose. I took the 3 days/12 hours course with two other guys(very happy I met them) and mis Wanna showd us 130 different tekniques.. a bit too much for 12 hours. Its not a bad school but I was looking for higher standards, something more serious and comprehensive.
I recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a general introduction to Thai massage. The course is short and fun and of course you can get something out of it. But not to the serious practitioner looking for true teachers.
and the book needs to change to something better.
This is not hatefull.. how can anyone hate mis Wana, she is so lovely. I hope this to helpfull and constructive.

I have been a massage therapist in United States for the past 27 years. I took the three day class. It was a lot to pack into 12 hours. Ms Wanna jumped right in to the 130 moves. First she demonstrates the moves on each student so first you get to feel it then see it. You write your own notes in the workbook as you go along. Then she coaches each student how to do the move on each other.
No time is wasted on intellectual theory or lectures (if you want massage Theory you should learn it on the Internet and not waste one on one teacher time).
My partner student happened to be a beginner at massage and I noticed that the class worked well for him too, in terms of radically improving the way he adressed the moves and body.
Wanna had a great touch, very good memory of the moves and sequence, was very fun (and funny), and darling.
English not perfect, but definitely adequate.
I don't know how all of these moves could be as well addressed in a larger class.
TIP: as it is difficult to remember all 130 moves in sequence, it is important to practice a lot right after the class.
And three days later I had another private tutoring session with her for 2hrs. $15-$20. Very happy that I did this because the memory slips quickly.
I would recommend doing a couple of sessions with her afterwards just to set the moves into the memory better.

Her email assistant was very good at getting back to me. And answered questions effectively.

We always wanted to learn some techniques to massage each other since we both love sports so wanna was perfect for what we wanted. She demonstrated each step very clearly and slowly in our bodies. She answered all of our questions and was willing to show us again and again. The course is very practical and the fact that is only two students makes everything very clear. Wanna is a great practical teacher with her own lovely sense of humor. We recommend this course to everyone.

I'm staying in Chiangmai for a month and the 1st massage course I took was oil massage course with ITM, it suposed to be a group course but i was the only student so it was one on one and that made me realized how important to have one on one training or limited number of students when it comes to a message course, and below is why I took Art of Massage and am recommendding:

1. Time: I don't really want to spend 5 whole days to learn Thai message, most of Course in ChiangMai are 5 days. Art of massage offers one on one or maxmium 3 students that you can learn the same with less time (it means your vacation & money)

2. One on one: to me one on one or limited number of students is the most important thing so you won't waste your vacation/money as you definetely want to have massage applied to you correctly by the teacher so you can feel right, and you want to apply the steps to the teacher so you can be corrected right, and more than one time practice so it sets in your brain. I can not imagine how this can be done in a group class.

3. Price: yes i think you can always request one on one in other schools but it would be pricy, Art of message's price is very reasonable.

4. Effectiveness: it's related to one on one, you don't need to spend time to wait or practice on another student who's feedback is not effective, and the main concer to me is in a group class there will always some questions that you don't really care or you already know the answer from other students that will interupt, to you, the learning, with one on one clasee the teacher only answers your stupid questions :)

Art of message fits all my needs, one on one, effectiveness, price, less time to learn more.

Also Ms. Wanna is a great teacher, in front of her you won't be afraid of asking questions, and she corrects you in very detailed little thing (move, speed, posture, weight, position, direction) that you don't even realize you don't know when you look at a book or youtube, that's what & why we wanna learn from a professional.

Some people might question: "for this price will the teacher be as good as where they charges more?", my answer will be: " I took a class in ITM where they charge not low, the teachers are both good but due to the way they run the business are different, so you can pay less for the same in Art of Massage, it's a win-win."

And the classroom is in a cute sweet hub located in a quiet green bright lane in a convenient area where you can feel a really great Thai local flavor!

It would be perfect if the book was in color. The pics are black & white and it's not clear enough to me when I look at them at home try to refresh my momery. I would be happy to pay a little bit more for that as that will help me to refresh momery when I practice at home.

If you are a beginner like me and looking for the same thing, I will recommend Art of Massage.

Hi all,
I recently took Art of massage's 3-day Thai massage course, and it was just perfect.
Miss Wanna, the teacher, is extremely knowledgeable, and she's also a very friendly person. She would demonstrate each and every move with great accuracy and patience, following the pace of the student. This allows the student to really memorise the moves and understand the logic behind the sequences.
Not one second is lost on useless theory; this class is all about hands-on training and qualified and relevant feedback. This is traditional Thai massage at its best, in its purest form, and which delivers the expected results.
I can't thank miss Wanna enough for providing such a great service at a bargain price.

I had been emailing this company for some time (they were really lovely), and I booked my 2 day course 4 weeks in advance as advised. I waited to meet at the gates where I was told and no one showed up after 40 minutes I gave up. 5 days later still no response to my email asking what happened. Very disappointed.

This is a beautiful course where the teacher is showing you each techique in your own body and then you perform at her until you got it right. You get continuous feedback on your efforts and the teacher is correcting your posture and pressure constantly until you feel confident. I attended several courses before this one and i have to say that most of them use the method of exhibition (A big circle where the teacher is showing the techniques on a model) and then people make pairs and work on each other. But this course uses the one on one approach and its much better cause you get it done right every single time without guess work. My instructor (Wanna) was excellent both as a person as well as an professional. In the end of the course i truly felt confident and that the techniques were part of me. I highly appreciate their effort. And the atmosphere is very family like. Highly recommended.

To tell you the truth i didn't know what to expect but i wish all my teachers in School were as fun and informative as you. Madame Wanna made me love the Thai and oil massage. For me it was a revelation to see how someone is given to what he does completely and i want to be like that from now on. Thank you from my heart for this experience of a lifetime. Recommend it to all. Hope we meet again some day.
