This is a fantastic night market with a wide array of stall selling lots of souvenirs and food.
I like how you can veer of the Main Street into a temple and check out the food stalls for something tasty to eat. Most of the stalls are reasonably priced and the stall holders will be happy to barter on prices.
My tip would be not to hold off on buying things you like here with the expectation of finding it cheaper elsewhere in particular the islands.
I’ve found since leaving Chang Mai markets in Koh samui are way more expensive for the same products with an unwillingness to barter on price so be warned.
Also look out for a stall selling sugarcane juice. I only found one. It’s not as easy to find in Thailand as it is in Vietnam but if you’ve never had it before it’s worth a try. It’s so refreshing and sweet tasting. Look for a stall with a roller and flattened sugar canes that have been pressed. It’s delicious!

This was the largest market we have ever been to- a lot of duplicates but lots of variety just the same. We wandered down for supper and shopped- probably about 3 hours total. Our feet hurt be it was so much fun.

Family trip to the Saturday night market. Great to see the market buzzing. Grab your food at the top of the street at the multitude of stalls before heading into the market itself. Not as many food offerings as I had hoped for, but cheap and very tastey. Market stalls are okay.

Great market just outside the south of old Town area.
Loads of vendors selling clothing and goodies.
Amazing food stalls once again!
Many foot massage beds on the roads for all the walking 😁
A great way to spend the evening in chiang mai if you have kids or if you not into the bar scene

Surprising at the time of writing that this market was actually more impressive than the Night Bazaar in Chiang Mai, mostly due to the impacts of Covid unfortunately. But, this one street market has held up particularly well along with the sunday night market. Plenty o eat and browse along with good bargains to hunt and the odd bit of live music here and there.

This is a night market that happens every Saturday night. We arrived at 4:50 and shops were still opening up. It’s one long street full of tiny pop up shops. They sell clothes, souvenirs, and lots of food! It’s a nice place to get everything you need all in one place. Just fair warning it gets super crowded quick, so wear comfortable shoes and something cool. Food is amazing! Must try the Thai sausage right when you enter the market and the Thai mini pancakes. You won’t regret it.

We loved this market. However I do understand why some people felt overwhelmed. It is enormous and there is definitely repetition of goods on sale. However as our first market in Chiang Mai we saw different goods to what we have seen elsewhere and found a lot of it was handmade and quite lovely. Definitely some of the usual cheap tourist tatt but not the majority.
We loved the side food court with low plastic tables and stools, great range of food and amazing atmosphere.
Of note, we arrived shortly after 5 and the crowds were minimal then, not too hot and we could happily browse stalls with no difficulty. By the time we left a bit after 7 it was absolutely packed, and we were glad to be leaving. And this was in the off season! So we found it worth visiting but would only go early before the crowds arrive.

We got told about this by the reception staff at our resort (Na Narind) and they talked about how this was a great street market with lots to do and see and buy. Well, once through the Covid Checkpoint, we walked down the street and we got the end rather quickly due to the lack of stalls and stall holders. We looked as a few things but not really that much to buy but it was worth a look. We could see this picking up again once the Tourists start back into the location and it will change. Maybe give it a few months and it will be flourishing once again. Like the old pictures from TripAdvisor and Google maps.

The Saturday night market takes place opposite the Chiang Mai Gate. It offers a wide range of handcrafts, souvenirs, woodwork, essence oils and a large variety of foods, fruits and drinks. You can have a foot massage here too. It’s also a must visit while in Chiang Mai.

Depending which part of the walking street you start at, it is about 10 - 15 min walk apart (1 km or so). There were similar vendors at both markets but not exactly the same when I visited both.

There are hotels all over this fairly small city, so it won't be a problem. Also transportation is easy and inexpensive. Choose an area and choose a price range and you'll be fine.

Gaan de zaterdag en zondag markt door op 31/12/16 en 1/1/17? Dit omdat ik dan in Chiang Mai ben en het tof zou vinden om deze 2 te bezoeken.
Thx!
