This was an unexpectedly interesting place. If only some of the handmade furniture and lighting could be packed away in my suitcase. 😊While staying in Chiang Mai we hired a car through our hotel since the village was a ways out of town. (Who knew it would only cost $12 American to hire the car and driver for the entire... More

I hired a Red Taxi for this trip, about four hours total for $700.00 Baht. My driver , Sean was so good to me since I use a cane walking. After shopping in the Tourist market, Sean drove slowly by all the shops for me to see whole village. We stopped at the most famous wood carvers shop, i believe... More

Also worth checking out is a great little jewelry shop called B Gems. The parents come to the Tucson Gem Show, which is how I found out about their little shop in Baan Tawai Village. It is... More

If you like handicrafts, furniture, beautiful wood carvings, fabrics, and all kinds of handmade crafts, this is the place to go. You could spend the whole day there and not begin to see it all. Over the years, I have bought many things there. If you are in the import business, buying for export, this is a great place t... More

The best place to buy some wooden carving handicraft and where you can find every other things what you can see also at the Sunday market or the Saturday Market and even more. You can go there and back by tuktuk for 800 Thb, but you can take a red taxi for 20 thb until the Airport Plaza where you... More

A paradise for shop lovers, especially if you're looking for wood stuff like statues, furniture, lamps etc. It is not only the designated place, the road going to it is full of art galleries and extravagant table shop mad of massive piece of tree.

Didn't find anything I liked. Nicer wood carvings and furniture were too large to take home. Lots and lots of stalls with assorted inexpensive stuff seen elsewhere. Maybe if we visited the artists. I
