It was a Friday. The day before, our driver took us to a restaurant by special reservation only. It was tucked up in the mountain and you'd never find it on your own. Because we enjoyed the place and the food so much, Veera, our hired driver during our stay in Chiang Mai, suggested we go to Mon Cham if... More

A nice view, huge lake and lots of cheap restaurants for food, drink .. and beer. Popular at weekends and a nice way to spend an afternoon.

Arrive early so you can snag a sala (bamboo hut) to sit in, especially on busy weekends. Order food and drinks, relax, play in the water, or rent a pedello (but only if you're under 65 kg / 143 lbs). Entry fee 50 THB for foreigners, 20 THB for Thai - and it doesn't matter if you speak Thai, come... More

You can go there by bicke from Chiang Mai. For entrance you have to pay 50bth. Nice place to spend lazy day. Place to relax mostly for Thai People. Along the shore stais bungalows with small table, you can order something to eat from restaurands. I recommend.

On our short stay in Chiang Mai, my husband and I and another couple decided to hike to the waterfall at Huay Tung Tao Lake. We had a pretty tough time finding the start of the trail near the base of the golden buddha, so we ended up hiking it backwards. Straight up a mountain we went. We spent about... More

Great way to relax. Just a view of the lake and good food. If you don't have anything else to do, hop on the bike, eat and relax, drive around the area. This gets busy and packed during Songkran though. :)

Take time to travel to Huay Tung Toa Lake north of the city of Chiang Mai. It's well worth the drive, but it's best to have a guide to tell you the whole story about the lake.

We love this place. The view is so cool, the lake with the mountains in the background and the food, well, it's just the best in Chiangmai Mai. We always have Tom yam kung it really is excellent, spicey and fresh, loads of prawns and the freshness of the lemongrass is too good to describe. Sitting in you own bamboo... More

What a great place to come for lunch and relax in the little huts around the lake. It's set up very well and the food is yummy. It costs 50 bht to come in and food not expensive. Only 30km out of town.

Peaceful lake, busy at the weekends, great to walk round, chill with friends, food and drink good. Can be sad sometimes seeing all the dogs with their puppies with no homes to go to. Great hikes off the lake. Free after 5pm.
