- SocialtruantCastelo Branco, Portugal158 contributionsCome for the temples, stay for the fights! This is my second time visiting The Ancient City. I was last here about 12 years ago. Not much has changed from what I can tell. There is still the constant building work going on, with some areas of the site blocked off. The whole place is really just a rich man's folly opened up to the public. For the cost of admission, 700 Baht, you are supplied with a clanking old bike, or use of the sightseeing bus service. I used the bike, as I need the exercise, and prefer the freedom of it. I spent about 5 hours clanking my way around the place, on what seemed to be a very quiet midweek day. Discovered that they really, really, REALLY, don't want you to photograph the elephants. I suspect that this is because they want people to pay for the privilege. For me, the highlight of the place was the Mauy Thia show. It's held at multiple times of the day. I was surprised by how low the attendance for it was. Maybe it was because of the day I went there. If you are in Bangkok, this place is somewhere that you should visit. If nothing else, you will get lots of photos to wow your friends with when you get home.Visited March 2024Travelled soloWritten 7 March 2024
- Tugce BayindirEskisehir, Türkiye148 contributionsAmazing NatureThis ancient city impressed me very much. I'm amazed. It's huge inside so we rented a golf cart. It was a very nice experience to wander around and enjoy. The cashew chicken and coconut juice were delicious. I recommend you to experience this unique place.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 March 2024
- NBassistCzestochowa, Poland14 contributionsA wonderful opportunity to learn about Thai culture and historyThis place is truly impressive, offering a great opportunity to learn about Thai culture and history. There’s so much to see and explore. Ongoing work on new exhibits promises even more to look forward to in the future. Visitors can rent a golf cart(and we decided to rent it), which makes it easier to see everything this place has to offer.Visited November 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 10 November 2024

A huge park with miniature landmarks and architecture of all the regions of Thailand. With the admission fee, you can add either bicycle rental, golf card rental, or a permit for your own car. You can also add headphones and audio rental as well.
The place is beautifully kept, with clean coffeeshops and bathrooms, and a few shops selling souvenirs. We ended up buying most of our gifts for friends and family here!

It's a cultural park highlighting architecture of various regions and historic periods of Thailand (Siam). The admission fee I paid included bicycle rental and headphones for an audio guided tour in English. I totally enjoyed my visit.

This is somwhere people don't talk about enough. Such a fantastic place and great if you are short on time and want to see some of the temples. Don't be fooled - they might say minature but they are far from small! We rented a golf buggy (highly recommend doing as there is 300 acres to cover) and far too hot in the sun which just added to the experience.

A very large park containing replicas of many Thai historic buildings from across the land. The entrance fee includes bike rental and the park is designed to be viewed by bike or shared ride. Too large an area to walk. Be careful where you leave your bike when entering a building as ours were taken by, I assume, other tourists. There is no cost involved as the bikes can not be taken out of the park. It did mean we had to return to the entrance to get new bikes. A good place for cycling, particularly with kids.

some parts were well maintained and some parts had the feeling of old collapsed communism city that have fallen into disrepair. one of the items that is a must see is nothing like the photos you see it is in disrepair yet still being built. prices are high for the quality. map is confusing and not very good. they also need to really enforce and pay attention to vehicles speeding. we were almost taken out by two trucks doing highway speeds in the park.

This park features replicas of important buildings and temples in Thailand. The park wasn't busy, you can ride around on bikes or golf carts. Some of the buildings are nice and the areas well kept, others are crumbling, unkempt and dated looking. Generally the park is OK, but in need of TLC.
The 2 chained elephants though are a different matter altogether. Both of these beautiful creatures are chained to posts, with a maximum of a meter to move. Standing in the same spot for the entire day. How this can be an attraction or even allowed in this day and age is quite unbelievable. Shame on the people who are responsible for running this park! The poor mistreated animals. Disgusting!!

The sites are decent, but they rip you off like people selling watches on the streets of Bangkok.
If you wish to rent a golf cart for travel, they will barely have any of the "cheap" 2 seat versions, forcing you to use the x2 price per hour 4 seater. Even if they clearly have more 2 seaters in the garage.
Do yourself a favor, use the free tour busses and walk instead if you wish to stay longer.
Also alot of trash, the water/river/ponds are rancid and stale and smell accordingly.
Also several places still under construction.
At the very least, it has a few interesting and beautiful places.

I wish we had read reviews before heading here. The place itself was very mixed… some lovely attractions spoilt by the large amount of refurbishment and mess on the outskirts of the park. Bike hire was cheap but the bikes are in terrible condition, one of the seats were broken and tires flat. It’s probably best to hire a golf buggy instead. The worst part is the mistreatment of the 5 elephants they have onsite which we saw at the end of our tour. All had their front feet chained together in a small enclosure. Heart breaking. I hope with enough negative feedback they reconsider and stop this abuse

Elephants are attached to chains with their legs and therefore cannot move (only stand still). In addition, they are unfortunately abused and people can take a ride on the elephants for a fee. If we had known this beforehand, we would never have come here. We hope this park stops doing this soon.

The ancient City is located on the outskirts of Bangkok. It is an enormous park of over 800 rai and we rented bicycles to tour the areas. Many old temples and interesting Thai buildings created over 70 years ago.

Good afternoon! Is it possible to enter there with your own car and how much will it cost?
Written 10 January 2025
1) Is the wall of vajradhamma part of the ancient city and is it included in the same ticket?
2) Which are the 10 countries whose citizens get 50% discount on ancient city tickets?
Written 27 December 2019
Don't know the answer to your question about the wall. I'd guess it is included in the ticket price, but as I was a guest of someone else, did not order the ticket myself. Let me assure you that the park itself is a marvel and worth what you pay to enter.

It’s 700 B per person and to hire a golf buggy is an extra 350 B for the first hour and then 200 B thereafter (take your id for this option) or you can use the free bikes to get around. We did the bikes which was great fun :)

Can we purchase tickets at the counter instead of making online booking?

The map showed the nearest BTS station is Bang Na Station. So, should I alight at Bang Na Station then take a taxi to Muangboran?
Written 22 March 2018
The BTS line is being extended at the moment the nearest station is Samrong; later this year one can alight at a new bts station very near to the ancient city.
