First of all, we booked this as part of a tour package. This is a good thing since we got on and off the long-tail boats at the private pier. At the public pier, it could be an adventure if you are not used to...More

Beautiful collection of canals, we got on a public boat that works like a bus for part of it and on a private little boat for other parts. I enjoyed watching how people live and I definitely enjoyed being in the river rather than walking.

A less than scenic ride through canals passing mainly ramshackle houses. However, it is worth going if you are stopping at the Royal Barge Museum or a magnificent temple along the water.

When visiting Bangkok you must hire a long tail boat and visit the canals. It shows the history and way of life of the locals in the old areas of Bangkok.

We travelled by public boat doing a regular passenger service sitting amongst the locals in amongst their homes on the canal in the main shopping area of Bangkok.

I would recommend the tour that is located at the boat dock that is on the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. We have used the service and recommended the service with great results all around.

Klongs are like roads and are a thoroughfare for boat traffic. You can go to the touristy area of Bangkok's Klongs and stop at eateries etc. There are some people selling things, nothing you can't get elsewhere.

Not really! There are very limited chances to shop en route, though there are a few vendors stationed along the banks, and the occasional vendor out on a boat.
