Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Former prison now repurposed as a community park. Nice grounds to roam and plent of rest stops. I liked how they kept the guard towers.

There is also a free weights gym and other exercise equipment as well as a childrens playground

When we host visitors to BKK, and they want to see the Grand Palace, we book them a tour and stay away (been there, done that, too touristy for us). Our own tour has several non-touristy highlights. One of these is to visit a park between 6PM and closing about 8 PM, when the weather is cool, and the park is full of people enjoying it in diverse ways.

This particular park is unique, in that it was created on the grounds of the former central prison, which had to be relocated when expansion was deemed necessary. It's on the west side of Maha Chai Road, is located under the cross-hairs in the middle of the map below (GPS coordinates are in the URL for this Web map):
http://wikimapia.org/#lat=13.7490355&lon=100.5026507&z=16&l=0&m=h
If you zoom in, like in the link below:
http://wikimapia.org/#lat=13.7490355&lon=100.5026507&z=18&l=0&m=h
on the eastern side of the park are remains of the former prison walls, cells, and other facilities - which may be visited (see the "attraction Website which describes the park"). A Wikipedia article gives more details of the museum:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bangkok_Corrections_Museum

Like in most other parks in Bangkok, after the playing of the National Anthem on loudspeakers at 6 PM, free aerobics sessions, with music and a facilitator, are held outside the SE wall of the park. It's a great thing to watch and photograph, or to join in! Inside the park, people will be jogging, exercising in the low-cost, classicly equipped outdoor fitness centre, picknicking, playing with kids, playing basketball in the courts, etc. Bangkok residents love their parks, and this is certainly a well-used one. The neighbourhood has several other interesting landmarks, such as the Bangkok City Hall, a Hindu centre, other temples, shops and restaurants. It's a moderate walk from Khao San Road. It used to be my much-appreciated neighbourhood park when I lived in a flat not far from here. I used to plan my grocery shopping (at the Central Department Store about 15 minutes' walk to the south) to include some time in this park. In winter (I seem to recall) after dusk, hoards of fruit bats come out to feed on fruit in the park - perhaps most notably within the southeast corner of the park. They make quite a fascinating scene.

A great, many-faceted place!

Nice little park with some benches and trees. Some water features and work out stations. Next to the Bangkok Corrections Museum which was closed for renovations.

I did the China Town walking tour alone in July. I walked a lot and I found this park on my map so I decided to take visit. It was a beautiful, small and peaceful park. It has a local gym on the right wing.

A good place to rest your legs after a long walk and meet locals. Quite nice in some ways. Be careful once you want to go across the street as there are so many cars, tuk-tuks and motorbikes.

A relatively peaceful haven amidst the chaos of the city. Grounds are well maintained and beautifully landscaped. There is a fitness area with machines and free weights, children's playground, rudimentary skateboard park, basketball court, two toilet areas, and plenty of shady benches and tables for lounging. Trees are identified, for the botanically curious. As with most of the neighborhood parks in Bangkok, this is not a destination, but a pleasant diversion if you're in the area.

This isn't a huge park but it is beautiful with a surprising amount going on with people running, doing yoga, there's a fitness area with equipment for 30 baht but even ignoring that it looks very attractive and is very relaxing.
Well worth a visit.

It looks like many Thai are motivated to do sports of some kind. A considerable part of this park can be used for doing sports. There are fitness utilities and even a place to play ball. Hence there are quite a lot of people jogging or walking (fast). The park is well-maintained. No garbage around, the grassy spaces can be used to relax. Some shade because of the trees.

A large very pleasant garden well worth a visit.

Situated right in the heart of ‘Old Bangkok’ is this large, well maintained. There are grassy areas for relaxing or picnicking. There are walking/running paths. There is a weight training area. The landscaping is quite attractive and features reflecting pools and ponds. Bathrooms are well maintained and clean. A very well utilized park by the locals.

Quiet place where you can learn the names of asian trees you see. Good for chill out before or after seeing Chinatown or when you want to rest for a while from cars and their pollution. Locals like to train here. Clean toilets. They close at 9 pm
