A little skeptical about taking a cooking class in Bangkok but many previous visitors and online reviews indicated otherwise. Class was great. Made some awesome dishes and have an appreciation for Thai curry now. Staff was helpful, communication was great and cooking facility was very clean.

At the recent Bangkok trip we tried out three different Thai Cooking Schools - of which Sompong definitely is the best. They pick up from the BTS (Skytrain) station and drive you to the meeting point - a short walk from the local market, where the day starts. At the market we are shown how to make coconut milk, curry... More

The whole process was amazing and seamless! We met them at the designated exit of the Chong Nonsi BTS station, where they were waiting in red aprons to transport us in a air conditioned car to the school. There we were given bottles of water and baskets, and moved on to the market to learn about all of the different... More

My friend and I had a great time learning 4 dishes at the school. Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming. Really appreciate the recipe book that was given to us! It's really well made and informative :)

We have just had a great morning learning and making a pomelo salad, red curry with prawns, chicken galangal in coconut cream soup & sweet sticky rice with mango. Our instructor, Irin, was fantastic and as I had recently injured my hand, Yui happily & kindly did most of my preparation.

As a vegan cook and blogger I can highly recommend this great cooking school. I was surprised how easy this school adapted my personal cooking field and ingredients for my vegan diet. It´s a bit hidden on the website that this school has options for different diets, but I am sure it would be a success if they would propose... More

To set the scene, I had plans to surprise a significant other with something special, and in going through the 'top 10' cooking classes in Bangkok, I originally chose this one because it seemed the best balance of low price-value. I could not have been more pleasantly surprised: Turned out to be the major highlight of our week! The decor... More

I absolutely loved this class, and I'm 100% satisfied with choosing Sompong over all the other cooking schools out there! The staff was so kind and friendly and made sure that everybody was doing okay. Everybody got to cook their own dish and eat it all; there was so much food that we made that they boxed it up for... This was a great class to take on my last day in Bangkok. Registration and confirmation were easy and directions to the meeting point were excellent. Enjoyed the instructor (TJ) who was educational and funny. Trip to the market was nice and was able to purchase some of the products to take back home. The interactive class was fun, there... More

Staying in Silom

Neighbourhood Profile
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.
