At 509 meters high, this was the world's tallest building from 2004 to 2010, when the Burj Khalifa in Dubai surpassed it. The tower is reminiscent of a pagoda or a stalk of bamboo and designed to withstand typhoons and earthquakes common in Taiwan. Floors one through five are a shopping center and both the indoor (89th floor) and outdoor (91st floor) observation decks offer a 360-degree panoramic view.

The 101 is the gem of Taiwan. The elevator travels from the 5th floor to the 86th floor in 42 seconds. There is a video room to see the construction of the building and it's over 1600 feet tall. There are restaurants and souvenir shops everywhere. This is a MUST SEE if you go to Taiwan.

There is a sign at the area where you buy your fairly expensive ticket to the observation deck which rates the visibility as excellent, good, general and poor. General means that thus your last chance to see this view before you leave or before the weather changes. You can tick this visit off your bucket list but your photos will... More

Excellent trip to the top floor in a mega fast lift Thoroughly enjoyable experience. Wonderful views that are just breathtaking. Gift stores and snack bars at the top and the outdoor deck on the 91st floor is awesome. Well worth a trip. Many more stores etc at the base of the tower which all proves for a very educational and... More

It's certainly a thing to check off your tourist checklist. Definitely make sure you have a day with good visibility. But honestly, to see the city, I prefer hiking up Elephant Mountain. That's the best way to see Taipei 101--from the outside, especially at night when the city and tower is lit up in a spectacular array of colors. But... More

It's a good view from top but not sure if it's the best. If u have gone up at Singapore dubai or KL then it's all pretty much the same. You can climb up from the 89th floor to the 90th floor open viewing but only a small portion is opened with high fence.

We were lucky to have Taiwan friends who helped us make a reservation at the Level 35 Starbucks so we could have breakfast while enjoying the city view. There's a minimum spending but a drink and pastry per person easily meets it. The reservation is for 90min and staff are very strict about it even though the place was quite... More

If you get to the top on a windy day you can see the counter balance giant metal ball swing with the building. Its quite amazing to see and experience plus the outside views are amazing. I recommend going 1 hour before sunset so you can see the city both day and night.

Taipei 101 is well worth visiting. It is open 7 days a week. Pick a day with good visibility . Arrive a few hours before sunset to view displays and enjoy night lights.
