The largest zoo in Asia, this was original a private zoological garden. The giant panda house, Formosan animal area, koala house and Asian tropical rainforest area are of particular note.

This place is very interesting for kids as it had a good collection of animals, including a panda. The zoo also offered a tram ride inside for those who want to reach the inner portion without walking as it was quite a distance. There were...More

Visited the zoo on 16Nov2017 (Thurs) with 29deg temperature is hot and humid. The whole park is packed with school children. Unfortunately, we did not explore the whole park as we are travelling with elderly and toddler. Entrance is NT$60 (AUD$3) adult and children below...More

We visited the Zoo with our 2 year old son and it was a great outing. The zoo is quite large and it can be extremely exhausting to walk. I recommend visiting the giant pandas first then taking the shuttle next to the panda house...More

The pandas made it all worth it! Come around lunch time 12-1pm so you can catch them being fed and taken cared of. Also boasts alot of other animals I've never seen before, I liked the rhinos and hippos.

The zoo is very nice overall, but there are many areas under construction at the moment, and on a Sunday it was extremely crowded. That said they had some amazing animals and getting to see a panda was pretty amazing!

Moms with young kids always look forward to the zoos, anywhere we go. It’s educational, keeps the kids super happy and the fresh air and running around is fun. This place is sanitary and albeit small. However in my 38 years of living in this...More

I honestly don't like visiting zoos because I don't like animals, especially wild ones, being taken out of their natural habitat and confined in small places. Some of the animals here looked quite lonely. I remember the lion being skinny instead of being the strong...More

This zoo was easy to get to and well connected with the train system. The area was large but we were disappointed with panda displays as this was the main reason we went. Less glass and more interaction with animals would have improved the experience....More

Entry is very low, only 60$NT, what is really cheap. You can see many animals like pandas, koalas, elephants, camels, hippo, tyger...etc. toilets are everywhere and places for have a rest as well. You can buy panda biscuits.

I would not recommend this. it makes more sense to visit zoo first and take a break at maokong. most likely you'll spend at least half day in zoo. Then you take gondola up to Maokong, find a nice tea house and enjoy sunset... More

hi! just take the MRT. Much cheaper and stops just a few 100 meters from the zoo. I took the Gondola on the way back just for fun otherwise you can certainly take the MRT back too.

If you are traveling from NY, EVA Air offers a non-stop flight from JFK to Taoyuan International Airport (TPE). Songshan Airport (TSA) is closer to Taipei city and the zoo, but you would have to connect at another airport to... More
