Good walking street....Crowded and lot of food stalls Bargainable price, but can be sarcastic. Spend whole evening shopping and eating around this area.

It's a good place to roam around during night. It is one of the largest, most popular night markets in Taiwan with regard to food, and popular points of Taipei's night life among visitors. It is located 100 metres from MRT Jiantan Station. The night market consists of two major elements: general merchandise and local cuisine. You can also visit... More

People has been saying Shilin is way too touristy and I agree to some degree, but the food here is definitely worth the visit. Try the Ah Po Mian Xian, thai food (I know it's odd to try thai food in Taiwan, but it was damn good, can't remember the restaurant name, but it was nearby the entrance!).

We visited Shilin Nightmarket after spending the afternoon in Beitou. There were four of us including two finicky eaters which spoiled the adventurous fun. If you like looking at knick-knacks that would have been fun too. Regardless, I still feel everyone visiting Taipei should experience the night markets. Shilin is worth visiting.

There are a lot a lot of food stands. Every food stand owner is trying very hard to be different and compete with each other. You can get confused by just looking at all of them. Fine the once it looks good to you and eat it.

This is the biggest and most popular night market in Taipei. The market itself is worth a visit, unfortunatelly it's usually so crowded that it kills the fun completely. You can't really "walk around" anymore. Instead you have to follow wherever the crowd pushes you. Waiting times to get some food are more than half an hour for every snack.... More

I came here on a wet Friday evening and there still was a lot of people queueing for fried chicken. There is a great market with products in the centre. This is surrounding with food stores. The basement floor has a food court with a great variety of food. Shilin is the night market to go to in Taipei. I... More

In the 5 days that my sister and I were in Taipei, we went to Shilin twice. One night it was a weekday night and that was busy enough, but we went on a Saturday night and it was so crowded we were totally packed in and moving at a crawl pace! So weekday night would probably be better to... More

The night market is full of street stores and food. However it is extremely busy and this almost makes it un enjoyable! - no clothes shops let you try on the clothes first either. Other, quieter, night markets with similar stalls are more appealing to me.
