We walked here from our hotel which was too far really and took us an hour and a half in the midday heat - i would get a taxi or a bus and ask at your hotel which one goes this way. The entrance feee is about £2 each and you can take some nice photos - a number of... More

A look into the past of Taiwan with Koxinga and the Dutch wars. Zheng Chenggong or Koxinga led the Ming armies against the Qing Dynasty. The remains of the fort is just a small part of the place. The place used to be the administrative center during the Dutch occupation. From the entrance, one comes to a manicured lawn with... More

Visiting Chihkan Tower gave us a sense of how old Tainan is. This fort is located near center of city and has been restored to excellent condition. We paid $50 NT/person for admission, that's $1.67US, can't beat that. Place is peaceful with ponds, waterfalls and kois. You can get fish food to feed the kois though we noticed they weren't... This old unique buildings in a beautiful setting ground is a must see tourist site for the Tainan visit. It is convenient located in the city and easy to get to. Most of the stuff were left from the Ming and Chin dynasties.

Beautiful temple in the heart of Tainan, 25 ntd for a broad category of people (otherwise 50 ntd). Quiet place to grab a coffee and relax far from the noise of the city.

This is a historical site that is quite well kept and in the middle of the city. Entrance fee is only NT $50 per person.

This is a beautiful stop with lots to see. The gift shop has great gifts at reasonable prices. Be sure to visit the upstairs rooms as well.

Not a very big place to visit. There are two towers built over the original fort. Do climb to the 2nd floor to see the view and also see the ship models in one and a shrine to Lord Kuixng (can ask for good academic results) in the other. Look out for the stone horse and the 9 big turtle... More

Might have been the "city counsel" area back in the day. Quite dedicated to praising the importance of knowledge. There are some English tours on certain days but signs are usually in Chinese only. Check out the surrounding downtown area.
