Maybe this is only a weekday activity, but on the Saturday I visited it was closed and thus all I saw was a wall with a nice door. If you can go inside on other days, it would have been nice to know. Nothing in the park gives you any cue.

At present this place is partially covered in scaffolding and sheeting, so it takes away from the scene and to be fair it's not all that interesting anyway, if you were going to miss one on your walking trip of the city then this would be the one to miss

the gate is somewhat hidden in a humble park with some interesting trees. you are just far away enough to be out of the noisy traffic. My highlight was enjoying a beer (35NT!) on the historic city wall. i noticed the gates are closed often... you may want visit it for less than 1 hour or so..

I visited on a Monday afternoon at around 3pm and it was closed. Not sure why as all of the signs and brochures said it had operating hours. I was able to walk around part of the exterior wall and got a glimpse of the roof of the interior building. There were some massive banyan trees on the property which... More

It is good for a few photos but it probably won't keep you interested for more than 20 minutes. Not a good place for disabled people or anyone with a stroller.

A french-inspired fort gate that would have been something more inspiring if it was original (not reconstructed) and in its original position (it was relocated from another part of town).

Landmarks of Tainan. Worth a visit and pictures. The Firing ceremony in the afternoon is interesting. Outside the walls is one of the most famous special restaurants in Tainan.(Wu-Jiao Chuan Ban,means 5 penny restaurant.)
