Baber Mahal Revisited is a high end mall with several excellent restaurants, clothing, paper, jewelry, antique and other shops, as well as Kathmandu's best art gallery, Siddhartha Gallery. The architectural restoration work alone is worth a visit.

If only Nepal was ruled by the British we would not be suffering today with this elfish politicians. What the Ranas saw in London can be seen in little pieces here.

On our recent return visit to Kathmandu we found ourselves again in Babar Mahal Revisited, a place full of charm that we really like. Located in the former stables of an old palace the place is full of shops, art galleries and cafes . We like to browse around and finally lunch in the french cafe where you get perfect... More

Babar Mahal Revisited is a reconstructed old place converted into an up-market shopping and restaurant mall with beautiful buildings and expensive boutiques. Well worth a visit for the tastefully and well crafted architecture and ambiance and for the 'beautiful people' who shop and eat there. Often a venue for 'events' of some kind, usually well advertised in advance.

I was visiting government ministries and my host took me to Baber Mahal Revisited, across the street from the former Baber Mahal palace. BM Revisited was the old stable complex for the palace. Today it comprises a charming set of courtyards, shops and five restaurants, including the delicious Chez Caroline, where we lunched. A lovely variety of shops in which... More

Located in an old palace, this shopping complex specialises in high quality, authentic Nepalese handicrafts and antiques. Compaired to Thames, prices are high, but you get what you pay for! The cafe is nice too - French/ Nepali food.

It's like a boutique mall, incl. a few restaurants, a gallery, a boutique hotel, and a cornucopia of classic shopping. It will seem a little expensive after Thamel, but the quality and surroundings make it quite a treasure. Popular with expats.

The palace is probably the worst damaged part of Durbar Square and it is so sad to see the damage to the architecture. Having said that you can still see the grace and beauty of the palace and it is interesting to look at the work they are undertaking to restore it. Still well worth a visit.
