If you are wondering about the local history of Abilene - this is the place to visit. Nice displays of cattle drive history and the cowtown era.

Such a friendly family place, the kids loved the old carousel ride. And we were oddly surprised that they absolutely loved the telephone museum. Who knew!? They are all ages 3-9. The old school house was a hit also.

Admission $6 Carousel $2 So much history packed into a tiny building! I found out looks can be deceiving; nicely displayed history of the telephone, lawmen, quilts, Beta Sigma Phi, Chisholm trail and so much more! And you have to ride the wood Carousel from 1901.

A ton of history packed into a wonderful place and tour. The phone instillation was one of my favorites. And you can ride an old carousel, what more can you ask for?

We stopped here in a group with lots of kids. They enjoyed the museum, especially the area with telephones! And, of course, the carousel was lots of fun! I only wish we had more time for the museum, but we plan to revisit again soon.

Our family stopped about 30 minutes prior to the museum closing for the day. I had visited the museum before and knew it would take longer to walk thru so we purchased a $2 ticket for a carousel ride for our daughter. She enjoyed the ride and then enjoyed walking through the historical buildings located next to the carousel. The... More

It is close to the museum and kind of a fun place to walk through and spend some time outside after the museum.

My parents and I enjoyed our visit to the Heritage Center. Our favorite parts were the lawmen guns, loom and spinning wheel, old car and fire truck, and the outdoor exhibits, including the carousel. This is definitely worth a stop...the curators have put a lot of work into this museum, and it shows!

We rode by this on the train and needed to check it out. Cute little place with lots to do. We wanted to ride the carousel (a group of adults) it was only $2. Walked through the museum to get there (added fee to see it) and then walked through the little mock town. Kids would enjoy this, I'd think.
