Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Much more than I expected -- very informative, and historic details that you will not get anywhere else. Definitely not "white washed" history -- the audio guide provides gripping, detailed stories of Uganda's history from the beginning of recorded stories in the mid-1800s. Only 4 stops, but strategically placed, allowing for information and presentations while driving between sites. A must-do to understand Uganda and it's remarkable history. Alex is a very safe driver (and all-around nice guy!), and Desire was all one could hope for in a tour guide (personable, knowledgeable, friendly, and knows how to get conversations started....lovely young lady with a great future!)

This is an absolutely fantastic tour that I would highly recommend if you want an accurate and in depth account of Uganda's history! The information is extremely well researched and presented. The tour guide and driver were professional and accommodating. Our guide at the Palace was equally impressive. You can tell that a great deal of thought and effort has been put into this tour with the transportation and training of the guides. It is a feather in Kampala's cap to have such a great company representing its tourism - well done Changing Horizons!

This was an really excellent tour with a superb guide and brilliant driver. It gave us a terrific insight to the history of the Buganda tribe and a short summary of Uganda's history. The audio sections as we drove between landmarks worked really well. Then Desire gave us more background at each sight. The landmarks visited were both inspirational and very moving.
I'd highly recommend it and Changing Horizons looked after us very well, providing water and a snack. Fabulous.

I just did the Historic Jinja Tour. What a great tour. I had previously done the Martyrs and Kings tour. I love history and Diana does such a marvelous job of research and narration that it makes the tours so worthwhile. Most tour guides will give you the spiel in "real time" - but they sound like robots after a while. Diana narrates the tour, with an incredible amount of history, and lets you listen to it on a headset between stops, while you ride in a very comfortable air-conditioned van.
Changing Horizons takes care of ALL the little details, snacks, water, rest stops, tour narration, tickets, lunch. All you need to do is show up and enjoy!
On our Jinja trip, she had planned a lunch at the Jinja Sailing Club, which backed out at the last minute for another booking. She was able to get us an even better lunch at the Gately on Nile. Way better venue!
One thing to remember, if you are not a Uganda resident: be flexible. This is Uganda - traffic happens, the Ministry of Tourism is not totally reliable, things happen. But Diana is very flexible and if you did not already know about it, you might not even notice! And dress appropriately: good walking shoes are a must. We were able to climb a couple of steep places, because we were wearing good walking shoes.
Highly, highly recommend! Money very well spent.

Dear Barbara, thank you so much for your wonderful review! I am so glad that you have enjoyed our tours, and thank you for recommending them. We will be keeping Gately on the Nile on the itinerary for our Jinja tour, I'm glad the change worked out!

Professionally managed tours offered in Kampala and Jinja that will have you asking thoughtful questions and leave you feeling like your money has been well spent. Tour company picks up customers in comfortable air-conditioned vehicles. Tours include recorded audio that you listen to in between locations. Clients are provided with water and a snack. Tours are all-inclusive. Drivers are exceptionally careful. Guides are thoughtful and attentive to the needs of the group. Don't hesitate if you are in Uganda to take advantage of the opportunities presented by Changing Horizons. You won't regret it!

This tour has been truly eye-opening. No where else will you get that much information about the history (including very recent events) of Uganda. What you learn on this tour is unique, based on Diana's in-depth research. You can't read or find the info elsewhere. Our guide Desire explained all the facts in a very interesting & easily digestible way. She's very knowledgable. I'd highly recommend this tour for everyone interested in history and political affairs!

The tour involves a bit of driving to different sites scattered all across Kampala, including its outskirts. Thus, it will also be of interest to people visiting Kampala for the first time & business travellers as you get to see the "real" Kampala along the way, while relaxing and enjoying the comfort of an air-conditioned car.

I have lived in Uganda for a long time, but had not been to a tour of kampala that i was happy with, until Changing Horizon's tour. it takes a look at the more interesting, mind boggling and confusing history of Uganda rather than the standard look around town and how amazing Gaddafi mosque is...
Through use of its unique historical sites and great staff, it emphasizes the fascinating crudeness and the astonishing progress we have made as a country, I cant help but highly recommend this tour to residents and tourists!

So little of our history is documented, or talked about. As a Ugandan, this tour was a mini journey of re-discovery, re-integration and re-connection. I would recommend it to others wholeheartedly. The tour was well organized and edifying about some of the darker - often denied - aspects of our development as a nation. Information was sensitively delivered in appropriate soundbites before each site visit. We listened to history through high-tech bluetooth earphones, while being driven into our past in air-conditioned comfort and excellent company. I think this tour into the moments of despair also reveals the resilient nature of this nation.
The tour was a bit longer than expected, due to the traffic. It would be a good idea to keep a flexible timetable that day.
Good walking shoes and a hat are useful accessories.

I loved the amount of in depth information Diana gave at each stage of the tour and the chronological journey we went on together through Uganda’s history. Another highlight was the delicious BLT sandwich and brownie we got for lunch! 10/10 for Changing Horizons Kampala Day tour.
