Went here on a public holiday, so although open not so many people around. Certainly found it worthwhile in terms of seeing what produce was available and at what prices. Haggling allowed.

Be ready to haggle! I loved every part of it! It is hard if you are not used to it, but just be prepared. Not sure that this should be a tourist destination, but it is good to get a feel for Senegalese day-to-day living.

This is probably the worst beginner tourist destination ever. You can find pretty much anything you want to in here, but you have to haggle for it. The prices they start out with are more than what you would've paid for it in U.S. You...More

I read up Sandaga market on Trip Advisor from others who had visited the market. For someone who hates bargaining, thinking of going to Sandaga was a real nightmare. I was in Dakar on day 3 of a 5 day workshop, so I had the...More

Sandaga is a big, bustling market, similar to many markets I have been to in West African countries, but if you are in Dakar, its a fun place to go to experience a facet of Senegalese life and culture...or to pick up some souvenirs to...More

I've been here searching for a carjack, paintings, costumes for a 1980s costume party, and I never leave disappointed. If you're a taubab, you'll be approached when you arrived for someone to carry your things that you buy. This is worth having someone do for...More

While you can find your souvenirs and traditional Senegalese clothing here, it is just another market with a whole lot of haggling to be done. If you are like me and don't mind haggling... go for it. Beware, the "guides", will try to take you...More

I wouldn't make this a tourist destination. It's really just a market. For those of us who live here, there's some useful finds there but I wouldn't recommend it for tourists. Lots of thieves there.
