Windhoek obviously has a background which identifies its history as a former German colony. The church is probably the centrepiece and is worth visiting. There is a memorial in it commemorating fallen German soldiers during the tribal wars around 1905. A piece of the history...More

A must-visit place in Windhoek. Very beautiful neogothic church. Beware of "fundrasers" that wonder around the church!

The design of the church is traditional with beautiful stained glass windows. We enjoyed a "tour" of sorts by a volunteer church member who was there. He was quite passionate in his retelling of the church's role in Namibian history. The large bronze plaque commemorating...More

Outside architecture is the most interesting as inside it is very basic. Amazing to find it on the Fidel Castro Boulevard ;-)

Worth the walk up the hill from the high street. A lovely small church overlooking the city. German colonial architecture.

This is a must see when in Windhoek. Christuskirche is a part of Namibian History. It also a good place for a photo opportunity. Situated in the centre of the City. It is still in use as a church to this day.

I was in Windhoek on a Saturday which is a pretty low key affair so popped up to the Christuskirche for the photo opportunity. There are plenty of visitors, like myself, doing the same thing. The church was closed when I visited.

There also a restaurant on the top floor of the museum, just opposite the church. The view from the restaurant is great.

You can visit the church free of charge, but a donation is appreciated.
