Overview
More
Windhoek, Namibia’s capital city, is described as a city with a ‘continental’ atmosphere and this can be ascribed to its architecture – historical buildings dating back to German colonial rule. Windhoek was initially known as Ai-gams a Nama word meaning ‘firewater’, ‘steam’ or ‘smoke’ because of the area’s plentiful hot springs.

Bad service, arrogant waitresses and frankly unmannered. Patrons that frequent the place seem like beggars, asking for money, taxi money, etc. Rubbish place.

What a pleasure to sit and walk around in a non smoking casino, with friendly and professional staff. Free coffee or tea available while playing.

The Avani (until recently, the Kalahari Sands) is a kind of average city hotel (albeit with a casino) in Windhoek, so you kinda know what it provides. We stayed here for 3 nights going out into Namibia, and one on the return. The rooms are...More
