The place is not too big, which makes it enjoyable to visit, the entrance is free, and there you can see how the dodo used to look. Also there are other endemic species you could learn about. As it is quite central, it is not...More

It looks impressive from the outside although the guard on the door - not his fault, explained it was closed and will reopen in 3 weeks. I was only there for the day and possibly will never return? (What good was that?) Just kidding -...More

Located in Mahebourg, this is both interesting and fascinating as it has a mixture of artifacts from local sources. Although not large in size it has enough material to keep you interested in the local history of naval artifacts and natural history.

Great place to see the marks left by British and French colonies, understand more about history of slaves, aquatic life and animals, dodo bird, and other endemic animals. Hope our government invest more in this unique museum and better preserve our national heritage. 可以感受英国殖民和法国殖民时期留下的痕迹,还有介绍奴隶历史,海洋世界,渡渡鸟,本地独有的鸟类植物类等。希望我们的政府多关注这个独特的博物馆,保护我们国家遗产。

This is apparently closed for a year - refurbishment. This information is not available on their website either. When it does reopen.... please make sure you have parking tickets for zone 1 (Rup 20 per 30 min) if travelling by car.

We found it quite difficult to find the entrance to the museum as it is not well signposted: it is to the right of the garden with the colourful dodo statues. It is free to enter. The toilet is by the entrance door. Photography is...More
