If you happen to be either at the zoo or the national Parc... run over to the museum on the same campus and have your self a look around!

The museum is located within the bounds of the botanical gardens - a splash of green in a dusty city. I've been twice now and what I've enjoyed most is the textiles. They have a lovely collection of textiles - both antique and modern - that display the artistry and creativity of the Malian people. The religious objects, especially the... More

A good way to have an idea of Mali's interesting history. Special attention for the textile area and the wood handcrafts, mask and totems.

This was a great place to come for a lovely Sunday afternoon. The exhibits are not extensive and it does cost about 1000F CFA to get in, but the setting is really nice, including lovely gardens. It is not clear if you have to pay more to walk in the garden. We walked up to the restaurant near the Zoo... More

Main museum of Mali, consists of two open rooms (the day I visited it), one dedicated to textiles and the other to architecture and ceramics. Price for foreigners: 2500 CFA (about 4 euros)

The National Museum is small, but it's in the National Park which you should visit anyway and inexpensive. It is worth seeing for the splendid masks and statues from around the country past and present collected here. A textile display also was interesting. It is eerie that there are few visitors these days. Terrorism has dried up the tourist trade,... More

Very small museum. They have masks, native dress various other items. We had our own personal watcher following us around. It takes about 30 minutes to see it all.

There is not much in the museum but it is still worth a visit. The "material" collection and the way it is "exposed" is very original. Some greats stories about how some artifacts were found.
