Snaking through the lush Akwapim hills, these gardens comprise great lawns planted with native and imported trees and plants.

This was a family outing planned for me since I had expressed an interest in a botanical garden. There was a nice variety of native plants, picnic areas and some concessions.

Don't expect much, this is not really worth a visit. The place is run down, filled with young beggars. Very very far away from any other National Botanical Garden standards. This is part of the colonial heritage and it lacks maintenance, maybe on purpose?

Beautiful and well taken care off, the Aburi gardens is a great getaway from busy Accra. There are places to sit and have a picnic or have a soda or beer.

Most interesting time spent at the Gardens, assisted by an excellent local guide, who is also an on-site researcher.

I came for an event. Aburi in general is nice. The gardens are just beautiful. Full of tall beautiful trees and green grass. If you love nature you will enjoy this place.

Our guide told us it was a gift from the British Queen to Ghana on one of her visits. It was, we were told, the first helicopter in Ghana.
