Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Came here during a weekday so most things were closed. Pick a lakefront area to park and relax in front of the lake.

Went here with the kids on a day trip from Harare. Had a land cruiser. Would not have been happy without a 4wd. We did self drive. Probably should have hired a guide so we could see rhinos (we didn’t see them). Had fun by ourselves though and saw lots of other stuff. Had a lovely picnic at bushman’s point. Facilities are a bit run down but far cheaper than private well maintained parks so you get what you pay for. We also had the place largely to ourselves mid week and that was novel. The attached map would be handy (we only got it at the end).

Visit Zimparks office in town ahead of your trip to book a walk or just arrive early on a weekend and book a walk at the Main Camp in the wardens office - its wonderful, so inexpensive and worth every penny you will get close to incredible wildlife in an authentic bush setting - while also supporting National Parks. We saw rhino, giraffe, zebra and so much more

Hi, lovely place to go for a day out. You are on your own to find your way round and we were lucky enough to already have a map as they had none available. Some loops were inaccessible and picnic areas had a bit of rubbish around. Some good sightings - eagles, monkey, impala, zebra and ostrich. Didn't see rhino but they are around.

The roads are not good especially during rainy season ,so an off road vehicle is a must.A good place to breathe some fresh air from the polluted capital city. You can chill by the lake fishing.and games to play ideal for bootcamps.I enjoyed a our game drive.animals giraffes, rhinos, warthog, ostrich and many more.It was worth our $3 entrance fee.

This small but wonderful gamepark is close to Harare and yet gives one the feeling of being far away. As a family we visited the place regularly over a span of many years and it is still a great place to visit. Unfortunately the nearby Lion and Cheetah park and the snake park have become rather run down so it's based to just visit the gamepark.

Well worth a visit with the family or friends.
There are lots of game and some wonderful bird life.
Take a picnic but would suggest you avoid the actual picnic sites and find a shady tree to park under

Lake Chivero Recreational Park boasts of a serene & nice lake akongwith wild life safari adventures. You can get a guided tour in your own vehicle for around $10 per person. Wild Animals that are most common to find are the deer, kudu, and rhino.

Not far from Harare. It is possible to find there crocodiles, girafes, rhinocers and autriches. You will need 4x4 wheals drive car. It is for 10 $ for foreigners. There is just one stand with drinks and snacks. Not always open. You could pay just 20$ for double room in chaletes or 70$ for a lodge. It is poorly equiped. Bathrooms are in poor quality. Doesn’t worth zo pay.

A really beautiful place to go. Fun for the whole family. One of my favourite places in the country. So much to see. Such a beautiful environment and really close to town. What a way to spend quality family time.

I believe Jonnyid is correct, around $5/person. Well worth it. Having a braii is totally possible but bring your own chairs/tables as there are not any developed spots, but you will find nice places along the lake to set up.
is there any accommodation near lake Chivero, and how much is it?
